A little on Friedman.
"Economist Milton Friedman's warning for three decades remains unheeded: open immigration cannot work in a welfare state. The wave of immigration at the turn of the 20th century was different. Among the many questions immigrants faced at Ellis Island (after the health screenings) were: How much money do you have? Do you have a job? If not, do you have a sponsor? Mr. Bush places great faith in present-day INS screening to curb the problem. How will the same folks who granted visa renewals to two of the dead 9-11-01 hijackers police this program for 15 million people?"
Got that from here, http://www.jewishworldreview.com/cols/jennings011404.asp
I think Rush and the rest were waiting until the election was over, and if President Bush was planning to continue this agenda. Now that he's won re-election, and is indeed continuing to call for this dopey immigration policy, now's the time to respectfully "pile on" and make sure it doesn't happen.
But if we get hit by terrorists again who sneak up from Mexico and/or have drivers licenses obtained while here illegally, we should all harken back to August 24, 1814.
Sure, better late than never but the fact is if supposedly conservative icons like Rush had acted years ago with the mission of really informing his legions of followers we could've cut off the head of the snake early on. Now, we have literally millions of new "colonists" here to establish their Aztlan beachead along with the need for billions in welfare to even survive. I'm in the Dallas area and for the last couple weeks our news has been full of illegals committing kidnappings, drive-bys, rapes, robberies, etc......and only when they're not driving on the wrong side of the damn freeways....it's ridiculous.
Thank you!
I wish the President would listen to Friedman, especially here:
~~Milton Friedman has shown us that when government attempts to substitute its own judgments for the judgments of free people, the results are usually disastrous. In contrast to the free market's invisible hand, which improves the lives of people, the government's invisible foot tramples on people's hopes and destroys their dreams.
--President George W. Bush in tribute to Milton Friedman
And it might also have kept several hundred thousand Bush-voters at home on 11/2/04, those disgruntled over W's guest worker suggestion (which is all it is right now), and we'd be awaiting a State of the Union Speech by President John F. Kerry.
First things first: get W re-elected, secure a majority in the House and Senate, then tell them what we really think and expect of them.
Please, I don't need any tissue made out of Sen. byrd's former outfit as grand wizard.
Certainly a point. Couple years back at one of the Indymedia-type sites, I read auto-article about... an American, who hates America and only does 3-world causes, readily sneaking back into America. Domestic terrorist by another name? For that matter, should Danny Glover, be locked out of the US for rabble-rousing in South America, and major pawn operative of Fidel Castro?
How may times have I told you that I am not some liberal art dealer and am not interested in your work.
To be nice, I don't like to see people get professionally rejected, so here's a website, look up someone who may interested in your "art".
Propaganda endorsed by Ed Asner among other willing fools.
Perhaps Bush is waiting for a WEIGHTY MANDATE of public indignation from REAL AMERICAN citizens to counter the phony-humanistic propaganda from the same old leftover gollywood socialists.
Phew! Fumigate the Soviet-style propaganda...
Note: emphasis on the "dumb" part as pertains to you.
You might be very right, Purpleland.
Thanks for the ping. I am glad Rush has added his much needed voice to this issue!
Please note that I am NOT against Mexicans who flee Mexico -I don't blame them. My criticism is directed to the ever-prevailing oppressive economic conditions suffered by over 50% of Mexico's population, and Bush's permissive attitude towards illegal immigration and open borders during these perilous times of terrorism.
"Last year, two radio talk show hosts in Los Angeles named John Kobylt and Ken Chiampou spent weeks urging listeners to defeat Mr. Dreier, who they claimed was only paying "lip service" to efforts to halt illegal immigration."
Wow
I take it these guys are not Kevin & Bean. ;)
