Limbaugh issues a warning to President Bush.

Monday, January 31, 2005 12:01 a.m.

ORLANDO, Fla.--In the aftermath of 9/11, conservatives bottled up their frustrations over some of President Bush's policies. Then they muted their criticism during the presidential campaign. But now it is spilling out in all directions--and the White House had better pay attention.

Most Americans see the absurdity of border situation long ago.

It's surprising that it took Rush so long to acknowledge the problem. But I guess partisanship will have that effect.

I was delighted to see Rush finally see the light on immigration.

"Immigration is complex"

BS! Immigration is NOT complex it is already illegal! Why do I feel the vast majority of Americans is being ignored by our( Repubs ) elected officials?

I'm still waiting for some proposal from anybody that is logistically possible with respect to immigration.

The Wall Street Journal editorial page is conservative except for abortion issues, so they don't mention the single most important priority his base expects from Bush: appointment of sane, conservative judges.

Immigration is an important issue for many reasons, and Bush had better change his position on it. Spending is also an important issue. But the single most important issue is to appoint pro-life, across-the-board conservative judges and Supreme Court justices.

Frankly it burns me up that Bush has put Social Security first on his agenda rather than judges. Social Security may need to be fixed. But JUDICIAL APPOINTMENTS is the number one priority, and he'd better get to work on it FAST. That goes for Specter, too. If Bush doesn't come down running on this, and start making appointments in the next few weeks, he will lose a lot of trust and support. The base will not accept another failure to act, and act quickly.

While it's true that a majority of voters may not support strict immigration control, enough members of his base support it to wound Bush fatally if he doesn't do something about it. And that is even more true of the life issues. A majority of the voters are opposed to abortion, and their numbers are growing every year as people begin to confront the realities of what abortion involves.

You are right, but, keep this in mind, when you and I speak the whitehouse more or less turns a deaf ear, when Rush speaks the Whitehouse opens it's ears and rereads every word. You and I are but voices in the wilderness, Rush is 20 plus million voices strong.

Let's thank him instead of being critical of him.

Presidetn Bush knows that he owes his victory, first to Christ Jesus, then to the Swift Boat vets, Rush, Sean Henity and the rest of the New Media, of which Rush is still the most infuential.

A true guest worker program where the "guests" are bused or flown in by their employer --- typically this would be a farm, housed for the 3 months or so that they would stay, healthcare provided by the employer, and after 3-4 months they are bused or flown back home. No family members for Americans to have to support, no staying on.

This would be better in many reasons. Americans won't have to pay the huge costs of education, health care, subsidized housing etc. The Mexicans would truly be temporary guests ---they would be returning to their homes -- their villages and families --- which in Mexico provides stability and support. They would invest in their homeland -- vote more responsibly knowing they will be living there.

>> "Why do I feel the vast majority of Americans is being ignored by our( Repubs ) elected officials?" <<

I think that Fund put his finger right on this. Many Americans may feel this way about immigration, but not enough have been vocal enough, loud enough to get the politicians attention.

I think that a lot of people were more concerned and putting more attention on the 911 issues at first, and then were so determined to keep scary Kerry out of control, that they kind of just went along with every thing else.

Now the underlying concerns of the people are just starting to bubble up to public attention. If we get on this issue now, and push this issue, and make a lot of noise about it, something can be done.

Two of the areas hardest hit by illegal immigration (Arizona and California) have started to have small mini movements. This needs to be built upon and spread to the rest of the country.

"--and the White House had better pay attention."

Oh yes, I'm sure the White House is quaking in their boots. They'll do exactly what they want to do now that they don't have the restraint of having to run for re-election is out of the way. THe time to hold them accountable is at election time, not pull the lever and expect things to change.

There are still Americans who are blind ---- but a lot depends on where you live and what you see first hand. Americans are told that bringing the slums of Mexico City can only be good for us --- that ALL these immigrants -- every last one of them has great family values, goes to Church -- Catholic even every Sunday and that ALL work hard for dirt wages but somehow pay a whole lot of taxes, buy up crumbling houses in bad neighborhoods and fix them up, with the money left over they buy their own health insurance policies, are saving Social Security because they pay into it but never plan to retire here, keep labor unions out, and with all their left over money they send a lot back which is keeping Mexico a fine country.

That was acknowledged. All I said was "acknowledged". Didn't say anything about it getting fixed.

Great article. I'd like to know why the reverse Berlin wall idea would not be an acceptable solution. I know I'd vote for it.
