Iran would make any aggressor pay dearly: armed forces commander
TEHRAN, Jan. 30 (MNA) -- The commander of the Iranian Armed Forces, Major General Mohammad Salimi, said here on Sunday that Iran will sound the defense as soon as the enemy starts to beat the drums of war.
The Iranian Armed Forces regard all foreign threats against the country as serious and are ready to respond to them, he told the Mehr News Agency.
We regard any threat as serious, although it might not be new or likely to be materialized. They have been threatening the Islamic Republic for a long time now, he said, referring to the U.S. threats to launch a military attack against Iran.
Military forces have nothing to do with diplomatic issues and negotiations but should only strive to increase their preparedness every day, Salimi added.
He went on to say that any aggressor who tries to carry out the threat of attacking Iran would have to pay dearly and would also find it a difficult task due to the current preparedness of the Iranian Army.
Our military forces are in complete preparedness and I dont think any outside force would consider attacking our territory. We do not seek a war under any circumstances and have always refrained from such actions, but we will continue trying to maintain independence, peace, and stability in the region.

Revolution is in the air in Iran. Hopefully all they need to get the party started is seeing what happened in Iraq today, and how much better life is getting without the iron boot of a dictator on the people's throats.

A very common defense strategy in the animal kingom.
My pet lizards also puff themselves up in an attempt to appear more intimidating.

They talk tough but remember the Iraqi's said " We're not Afghanistan. The Americans will pay with their lives..etc."
The Taliban said "Afghanistan is the graveyard of empires...etc".
They must be sh**ting in their boots about now.

He went on to say that any aggressor who tries to carry out the threat of attacking Iran would have to pay dearly Paying for all those POW's and reconstruction is a tad expensive, isn't it?

We heard all of this stuff from Saddam before the Gulf War in '90. We also heard it from Khadafy in Libya. Remember the "line of death"?
