The more he talks, the worse he looks, that's for sure.

Russert: Steve Gardner made a specific charge. Showing the charge. "Kerry says he spent Christmas in Cambodia and that's a lie." Russert going through how Kerry said repeatedly it was seared in his memory.

Kerry: We were right on the border, Tim and I've explained this any number of times. Was I in Cambodia on a mission that night or another night. Yes, I was in Cambodia and Steve Gardner doesn't know where we were. We did go five miles into Cambodia on another day. I jumbled two days together. I even have photographs of it and can document it. I have the hat a CIA guy gave me. We were on the Cambodia border on Christmas eve.

Russert: You mentioned Nixon was president then but he was president-elect.

Kerry: That's right.

Russert: Release and sign form 1080.

Kerry: We've released all the records I've been sent regarding my military career.

Russert: Will you sign form 1080.

Kerry: Yes. Everything that was out was a documentation of military records and fitness reports. Let's see the records of each person who put up a challenge.

Russert: Korsi says that he's moving to Massachusetts and will run against you in 2008.

Kerry: That's terrific.

I think he was nuanced about signing it or not signing it. I sense a big "if" or "but" but he didn't quite say that.

Remember the press thought most of us weren't smart enough to understand Kerry's 'nuances'.

That is where the lie unravels. Nixon was Pres-elect. But, the purpose for the Christmas in Cambodia was a secret CIA mission approved by 'President' Nixon. If Nixon weren't in office, he wouldn't authorize the mission. Kerry still dances around the whole thing without giving a straight answer.
