The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Some American Mosques Carry Extremist Tracts, Study Says

WASHINGTON -- Mosques across the U.S. continue to carry books and pamphlets describing non-Muslims as "infidels" and promoting intolerance against Western society, according to a forthcoming study by Freedom House, a U.S. human-rights group.

Despite vows from American Islamic leaders after Sept. 11, 2001, to proselytize peacefully, New York based Freedom House researchers found 57 documents with incendiary material in more than a dozen mosques and Islamic centers in six states and Washington, D.C., visited over the past year.

"Two Car Bombs Kill Over 100 Near Baghdad"

Monday, February 28, 2005ARTICLE SNIPPET: "BAGHDAD, Iraq  — A homicide car bomber detonated explosives amid a crowd of people south of Baghdad on Monday, killing more than 100 people and wounding 133, police and witnesses said, in one of the deadliest insurgent attacks of the post-Saddam Hussein era.


Babil province police said in a statement that 106 people were killed and 133 others were wounded in the blast in Hilla, about 60 miles south of Baghdad.


A second car bomb exploded Monday at a police checkpoint in Musayyib, about 20 miles north of Hillah, killing at least one policeman and wounding several others, police said on condition of anonymity.


In the deadlier attack, the homicide attacker drove into the crowd of jobseekers at the government office in Hilla (search), about 60 miles south of Baghdad, and detonated the explosives, witnesses said."

"ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Local Joint Terrorist Task Force investigators are keeping close tabs on a group of anarchists hellbent on creating a classless society - using armed resistance if necessary, the Herald has learned.

Anarchist Black Cross Federation, an organization that FBI Director Robert S. Mueller calls an ``emerging revolutionary group,'' has active members in Boston who have distributed fliers against the war in Iraq, including one that reads: ``Synchronized bombing is a lie. But we can be more precise.''

The flier, released by Anarchist Black Cross Boston, goes on to list the address of Boston Police Headquarters in Roxbury, FBI headquarters in Government Center, the IRS building and a military recruiting center on Summer Street.

There is also a list of corporate sites, including Fidelity, the Gap, Niketown, and Raytheon's Waltham location.

``We are aware of this group, and the flier. The potential victims were notified,'' said FBI spokeswoman Gail Marcienkiewicz.

The group first garnered police attention last summer as Boston police prepared for the Democratic National Convention, said police department spokesman Sgt. Tom Sexton.

``They showed up on the radar shortly before the DNC. It's not a new group to us,'' Sexton said."
