On Saturday, Garza said his letter was intended to give "fuller context" and "highlight the fact that the wave of border violence is a result of the successful efforts of President Fox's administration in the fight against organized crime."
WTF?

The United States and Mexico sought to defuse their spat over a U.S. alert about drug-gang violence along the border, issuing a joint statement Saturday in which Washington said its announcement was not meant to keep Americans from traveling south of the border. At first I thought it read United States OF mexico.
UNBELEIVABLE!
Washington is proving again and again that FOX is really running this country AND definitely running Washington wonder whats really going on and what are they holding over Washingtons head.

Somebody got caught telling the truth about the border and was taken to the woodshed. Tsk tsk. Embarrass our Mexican "friends" at your peril.

Both officials noted that their governments recognize that drug trafficking and associated crime do not recognize any borders..." I wasn't aware that the Mexican government recognized the borders, either. Except Mexico's souther border, that is.

Once again, we been done by Fox.
The ignorance and stupidity in Washington about this whole issue is breathtaking. And if they don't get their sh!t together, it's gonna be vote taking, too.

It appears our own Government is prepared to put US Citizens at risk by downplaying the incidence of violence against it's Citizens at the hands of Mexican Nationals in Mexico. It goes hand in hand with the stifling of the mayhem Mexican Illegals are causing in the US against US Citizens.
Apparently this is to avoid disrupting the lucrative Mexican tourist trade and thereby angering the Mexican Government. Unfortunately I'm disappointed but not surprised given the acquiescent posture the US takes towards every Mexican outrage. Complete crap!

I think Tony Garza may be the fall guy in all of this. IIRC, he put out the first notice September 2004. This was mainly in regards to the Reynosa police robbing Americans at ATMs. The notice in essence told Americans not to take debit cards, credit cards or much cash to Mexico. As the crime in Mexico escalated this fall, Garza put out more notices even referring to the killings.
This week the State Department put out a notice. This notice is the one that really got the Mexican officials in a snit.
I wonder why Condi Rice is silent on this especially since 2 FBI agents have been threatened within the last 24 hours.

It's not a "spat". They hate us and have for years. They want what we have but the only way they have of getting it is to get us to give it to them and they're doing a damned good job of it. The elites in both our nations don't care who's paying the bill as long as it's not them.

On Saturday, Garza said his letter was intended to give "fuller context" and "highlight the fact that the wave of border violence is a result of the successful efforts of President Fox's administration in the fight against organized crime." He said Mexico had increased federal law enforcement operations in the border region with support from the Mexican Army in its effort to combat organized crime. In other words, Fox laid on the Bush gang and they caved in to do what Fox wanted. NO matter if AMERICANS get murdered.

The Mexican gangs, cartels, criminals, murderers and kidnappers were furious over the possible dcrease in the number of potential gringo targats that might have resulted. They demanded their boy, Fox, intervene to protect their criminal interests. Fox, to protect his cut of the criminals' take jumped to it and, thus, this snnouncement.
The fact that 100s of federal officers are now on the Mexican side of the border only means that the take will have to be split up into more portions. Gringo sacrificial lambs are free to cross the border at their own risks. Fox is wrting the letters of amazment that will place all blame on the Americans for the gringos who are murdered and kidnapped in the coming weeks.

"Garza, the statement said, insisted that the State Department announcement did not recommend that Americans avoid traveling to Mexico, but only that they take precautions in specific areas.Yeah, "precautions" like traveling via turreted armored car, and wearing kevlar vests.

The Bush Administration's level of incompetence and negligence in addressing border security till now has been masked by the aftermath of 9/11, and wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
So exactly when does the President lift a finger to stop the open-wound hemorrhaging of American sovereignty at the Mexican border?
The evidence suggests he doesn't consider "it" a problem.
Even more mysterious is why he doesn't -- we're ALL ears if he's willing to let the rest of us in on his little secret.
