Yeah but in counterpoint no one claims Abraham Lincoln's re-election in 1864 was illegitimate because the South didn't take part in the national election during the Civil War. Its the same in Iraq and it may take Sunni Arabs awhile to realize they no longer enjoy the role of being a privileged minority possessed with absolute power over their countrymen. Now they will simply be one voice among the many groups that make up Iraq's diverse population.

"You folks who live in the United States who are watching this, just be proud. Be proud of this. This is amazing. This was inconceivable, wasn't it, during the days of Saddam Hussein. Look how far this country has come. It will heal its wounds. The terrorists are going to lose."

Geraldo at his best. He has a wonderful way with words, regardless if he occasionally blows it, but like so many baby boomers (like myself), he has wised up as he's gotten older, and even Geraldo is seeing the light. He actually almost got derogatory against old Teddy Kennedy.

Now, as for the quote of Geraldo's above, about the U.S. being proud. That is true, but what it really should also say is how proud we all should be of George Bush, who stuck his neck out to get his Iraq policy to the point in time that we are all now watching on TV today (well, actually our nite, their day). So, a thousand thank you's George Bush, for having the guts to carry your policy out, in spite of the dems kicking and screaming against you all the way. You win, they lose, bigtime. Kudu's, Mr. President. I'm so proud of you (and Cheney and Rumsfeld too).

What is going on in their liberal heads?!? They are just crazy to be so desparate for defeat in Iraq. The election is a SUCCESS, it is obvious. Frankly, Operation Iraqi Freedom is a success. Those DUmmies hate everything.

They felt it was too risky to allow a longer voting day. As Iraq gets accustomed to the give and take of a democratic process that may change by the time the next election is held. We can wish Iraqis joy on this special day and hope their first free election is also not their last one.

5 Die in Shootout in Kuwait's Capital

By DIANA ELIAS, Associated Press Writer

KUWAIT CITY - Kuwaiti security forces stormed a building in a residential part of the capital and exchanged gunfire with suspected terrorists on Sunday, killing three in a battle that also left a security officer and a Bahraini bystander dead, state television reported.

The clash was the third battle this month between security forces and suspected militants. Kuwait, a major ally of the United States, has been battling some fundamentalists who oppose the presence of the American military in their country.

One suspect was arrested in the operation, according to state-owned Kuwaiti Television. Three suspected militants, a Kuwait security officer and a Bahraini man who lived in the building where the attack took place were killed, according to the report. The man was a bystander.

The clash took place in Kuwait City's Salmiyah neighborhood, where many foreign residents live. Residents heard gunfire for several minutes and saw police cordon off the area.

The report said the clash had ended but that police were still combing the residential neighborhood for suspects.

Earlier this month, police engaged in two clashes with armed militants that led to the deaths of two suspects and two policemen.

Authorities have arrested more than 25 Kuwaiti and Saudi terror suspects since the Jan. 10. Seven of them, including a woman, have been referred to the prosecution for planning terrorist attacks or failing to report such plans to the police.

On Saturday, the American Embassy reiterated a warning to Americans, saying that "the possibility exists of further violent clashes" as security officials pursued those involved in the shootouts.

A message posted on the embassy web site also said terrorists may "seek softer targets such as public transportation, and public areas where people congregate."

The messages were the latest in several security-related messages from the embassy in January.

On Jan. 10, a Kuwaiti fundamentalist and two policemen were killed in a clash in a Kuwait City suburb. Five days later, a Saudi fundamentalist was killed in a shootout at Umm al-Haiman, a town near the Saudi border.

Kuwait has had close ties with Washington since a U.S.-led coalition liberated it in 1991 from a seven-month Iraqi occupation. The country was the launch pad for 2003 invasion of Iraq that toppled the dictatorship of Saddam Hussein, and it is still a logistics stop for U.S. troops serving there.

Since 2002 fundamentalists have carried out attacks against Americans, killing one U.S. Marine and a civilian American military contractor.

If something is good for the U.S., it is bad for the left.

If something is good for left, it is bad for the U.S.

Apply this to any situation, it rings true always.

Ol' Hil sure gets around!

An Iraqi woman living in Iran casts her vote on the third day of Iraqi elections at at a polling station in the south of Tehran January 30, 2005. A suicide bomber strapped with explosives killed two policemen in the latest attack on polling centres during Sunday's election, police sources said. At least eight suicide bombs exploded outside Baghdad polling stations, killing at least 19 people. Seven of the suicide bombers walked up to the voting stations on foot and one used a car bomb. Nuke that lie by pointing out that this is much better than people never voting at all, as under a tyranny, that this is the first of more elections to come, and that the Sunni will be represented in the government whether they vote or not. There are Sunni on the voting lists who get elected on a slate with others, and there will be appointed positions in the government as well. When you compare the Left's position with the fact that before this, people never voted at all, they look like the jackassses they are. I almost said dumb jackasses, but I caught myself on the redundancy.

That about sums it up. I almost feel sorry for the miserable little DUmmies. That they hate their country so much can only be a manifestation of self-contempt, which has to be an awful way to go through life.
