The anchor led with something about problems and then the reporter is standing in front of people clapping with joy. Oh, they are happy now, they have bad news in Baghdad but they go to the reporter and he shows long lines at the polling place.

CNN - tempering the exuberance in Baquba with grim reports from Baghdad. Bleah!

God, it sucks to be them. They should be ashamed that they are
hoping for bad news. They want the Islamist terrorists to thwart a democratic election... how good can they feel about themselves?

I did notice she has HUGE....nostrils. (Supposedly a sign of someone who spends money out their nose, BTW.)

That's why she advertises the same damn album every year.

Keep a helmet on when you go outside for your cig break!

Oh, believe me, that is mandated right now. We can't step outside a hardened building without our vests and helmets on and haven't been allowed to for the last few days.

Having you here to post updates from Iraq is fascinating! Provides a unique viewpoint not available through any other medium. Just wanted to add my thanks for your reports.

"Gee, too bad their democracy couldn't begin nice and peacefully like OURS."

Exactly! And other KSFO talkers (including Freeper David Gold) have been talking about how long it took Germany to have free elections after WWII, as well as Japan's post-war history. With the terrorists trying to suppress independence on a daily basis, I think the citizen Iraqis are doing pretty damn well.

hehehe

Deskguy on CNN is trying to find a reporter who has bad news. Camera swings to lady reporter. They can't hear for all the clapping and jubilation.

Poor deskguy turns report over to another, who is giving negative commentary.

[Still the lines of voters increases]

Is anyone else as nervous as me? I can't sleep even though it's 1:30 am here.

Elated would be more like it for me. I won't sleep for hours (and it's 1:30 am here, too).

So can you and anyone else with access to live pics tell us what the polling places look like? What are they saying about turnout?
