HDNet PRESENTS A CONTINUOUS HIGH-DEFINITION VIEW OF BAGHDAD AS IRAQ PREPARES FOR ELECTIONS
In an unprecedented move, HDNet is telecasting a live and continuous high-definition view of the streets of Baghdad, in the days leading up to Iraq's first open elections in 50 years.
Using its one-of-a-kind flyaway HD uplink, a transportable satellite uplink built and designed by HDNet and connected to a high-definition camera overlooking the city, HDNet will be sending a live continuous, uninterrupted feed to U.S viewers for eight hours each day, from 2:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. ET (10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. in Baghdad), on Saturday, Jan. 29 and Sunday, January 30, the day of the elections.
"HDNet is proud to be the first to deliver live, high-definition images in full 1080i quality from Iraq," said Mark Cuban of HDNet. "The Iraqi elections are a unique milestone in our country's effort to support democracy and fight terrorism. HDNet will deliver a raw, unedited, up-close viewpoint that only 1080i HD can provide."

We need to find the url of the infamous Badgad cam - the intersection we all watched during the war. I'm trying to remember if we dubbed it the safest intersection in Bagdad, or the most dangerous??

Not sure if this is a good or bad thing. If there are no or very few terrorist attacks on the voters, it's good.
If there are many, how clearly would anyone want to witness the images as they appear on HD TV in their living rooms?

the libs still wouldn't believe that Iraquis want freedom even if they saw them being blown up at the polling places.

Mark Cuban's live Iraq coverage is Mocking, *MOCKING*, the Corrupt Old Media's portrayal of Iraq as being hyper-violent.
As the actual election violence over there turns out to be anti-climatic, a *lot* of people are going to start taking after FReepers by questioning the drivel that's being spoon-fed to many Americans in nightly news broadcasts.
Compared to the 12 to 20 Iraqis and 1 to 2 Americans killed in Iraq on an average day, many Americans don't even realize that in "peaceful," romantic, "calm," Rio de Janiero, Brazil, that there are 110 adults shot dead *every* day.
Mark Cuban is about to bring a piece of that perspective back home.

I told people who don't have HDTV, "your not going to believe what they sometimes show" and most of them don't, but I see I'm not the only one that noticed some of the odder things.
On INHD, they showed the IMAX Blue Angles video. That was the moment when I knew HD was the future. That showed just how close and precise the Blue Angels are more than anything I've ever seen or read.
Back to the topic - Cuban has been showing a lot of newsworthy events in HD, with little commercial interruption. I don't know if he has some kind of "You watch, you decide" thing going on, but there have been some interesting events.

LOL, okay you caught me without HD TV
or cable, satellite and most things new, bright and shiny.
Maybe someday soon I'll get to see for myself whether all the fuss about HD TV is worth it. Here's a promise that I will take your word for it until then. :)
