I'm very concerned about the lack of disclosure in the news release from the Pentagon. According to Defense News, the helicopter is actually a design by the European company AgustaWestland. No mention is made of the AgustaWestland partnership. In fact, it doesn't say anything about non-American partnership in building the aircraft. Check out the Defense News side of the story at: http://www.defensenews.com/story.php?F=624931&C=america

$1.7 billion for a damned chopper????? Man, think of the homeless we could house, the water we could clean up, the owls we could save, the democrats we could get elected, the slush funds we could contribute too, the abortions we could pay for, wow. Oh, sorry, just some socialist ranting! /sarcasm off.

Not trying to sound like a whinging democrat, but 1.7 Billion is ridiculous, I want to know what this thing can do.
How many F-22s or SumperJumbo's could be bought with that sorta money?????

Maybe this should be free, to make up for the technology they leaked to China...

Bush is a Limey at heart. Blue English blood running through his veins.
Congress should over-ride this decision.

i don't understand why the president needs or would want a newly designed helicopter, wouldn't the secret service rather have him in an aircraft that has a tried and true design? Something that has been put thought the the ringer? Kind of strange to have the POTUS flying in a relatively untested aircraft. Seems like they should use someone already in the inventory, albeit a newer one... one that has been flow and tested but not abused.

Can you trust a Defense Dept. that doesn't mention that this will be a foreign-made chopper, with Italy and England in charge of the project? That is really rotten!
