SAN ANTONIO -- Valley authorities are on alert tonight after the FBI San Antonio office receives "credible information" of a threat to kidnap agents and kill them.

The Gulf Cartel is believed to have massed armed men, with visas and passports, along the border to come into the United States and kidnap two FBI agents.

Don't you think the government has a few gentlemen on retainer who can handle this problem?

That's what a lot of them say --- I never took it so I don't know first hand --- but they all say the first high was so wonderful, they felt so on top of the world, powerful, popular. They felt everything was fine -- perfect even-- a feeling they wanted to experience one more time. The next dose takes them just under that, the next lower yet. Then in no time -- they're feeling really bad most of the time, and the cocaine just makes them feel a little better than really bad --- but it's a relief just to have that.

Certainly, many have recently been officially discharged and are just waiting for new ID's.

I never took it either.
My drug of choice was alcohol until it nearly killed me.

Quite often one leads to the other, and I always had a lot of compassion for those who could handle the withdrawal from alcohol, but couldn't handle giving up the other drugs at the same time. They led a miserable life.

Well --- I know I have far more compassion for the drug users than for the drug dealers. I doubt anyone sits down and decides to become addicted, addiction can take place quickly or over time ---- and it seems to me that addict might be trying to self-medicate for some kind of depression or emotional pain --- the traffickers only motivation is greed. So as much as the narcotrafficking Mexican government tries to blame the users in the USA entirely for this problem --- it's a weak argument. They chose greed and now have to live with the consequences.

I read quite a bit about El Salvador and Honduras being two hot spots for terrorists possibly joining forces with the druglords and MS-13 gangs. Is that where these guys are coming from, or are they homegrown in Mexico?

I understand that we now have Forward Operating Locations (FOL's) for our military in El Salvador. Somethings up there...

Y'all are thinking of crack, not coke. And that's not true for crack either. It's just so much stronger that even first time users can feel it. Tobacco and alcohol are also instant highs.

First time coke users usually can't see that it does anything. It often takes a half dozen times before people actually learn to distinguish the high.

I'm thinking about cocaine --- and like I said -- I don't know first hand but that's what cocaine users tell me --- it's the lie of cocaine they say --- that it makes them feel very good the first time but not after that. I doubt many crack or cocaine or many other drug users actually tried to become addicted --- and addiction for many is the first time --- that's what leads to the second time, and the third time and so on. But yes I realize many people can likely use cocaine, crack, heroin and the others many times without becomeing addicted --- but for many others they are hooked right off --- which is why there is so much easy money for the narcotraffickers.

Also --- I would really think that something that cost alot that did nothing for the first half dozen of times would inspire so many to go on and become addicted. That's why people don't get addicted to styrofoam or wheat flour. You're not going to say "gee this stuff did nothing for me --- I guess I'll buy more and keep on trying, I'll get addicted someday somehow".

Why, we lose soldiers in a war, and the dummycrats are now calling for our withdrawl, and are stating that the problem in Iraq is NOT the terrorist (who they, the dum's admire), but, American Forces in Iraq!

Kidnap a couple of FBI, and what the he--, lets pull out of the south western states before we REALLY tick off those drug lords!

Thank you so much for this report.

Corruption On The Border and Kings of Cocaine Inside the Medellin Cartel an Astonishing True Story of Murder Money and International Corruption and Drug Lord - A True Story by Terrence E. Poppa The Life and Death of a Mexican Kingpin indicate the scope of matters.

The latter reviewed by Elaine Shannon author of Desperados - Latin Drug Lords, U.S. Lawmen and the War America Can't Win a 1988 book out of print but not out of relevance.

The FBI seems to like to target vulnerable innocents: Richard Jewel, the "person of interest" in the anthrax business, Colleen Rowley the too-energetic agent--and whistleblower.

Will the FBI pause in its Islamic-sensitivity training to respond to these kidnapping threats by desperados operating without restraint?

I favor a zero-tolerance approach to torture: when we have terrorists (drug-related, terror-related, fillintheblank-related) in custody they should be handled with great care.

Every exhale should be a) a scream of pain; b) useful intelligence.

Otherwise they should be boiled, ground, canned and shipped to tsunami victims.

Caution: this statement contains political satire ninety per cent by weight.

Sorry but BATF wasn't around in Ness's day. BATF was formed around 1972, if memory serves me.
You sure you're not thinking of Harry Anslinger? BNDD, Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs?
Ness was a revenuer, Treasury agent. Same same.

WRONG WRONG WRONG as usual, BR.
As a recovering coke addict, 15 years, 1 month 6 days, I can tell you the FIRST cocaine use is the one that gets you, whether you shoot, snort, or smoke.
There, my closet is open and the skeleton is out.
Coke is HIGHLY addictive.

Richard Jewel, the "person of interest" in the anthrax business,
Jewel was the person arrested for the Atlanta Olympic bombing.
You're thinking of the doctor, Steve something or other, I forget his last name.

Thanks for the heads up on that. I couldn't remember exactly which bureau/branch he was but I knew it wasn't the FBI.
