The beer would probably have been about 50 degrees or so when he opened the bottle; it was certainly very cold in the car, and the bottle doesn't insulate it all that well---in fact, the beer would have frozen had he stuck the bottle in the snow. However, after he drinks the beer, he could urinate it out at 98.6 degrees. 98.6-degree liquid melts snow a lot easier and faster than 50-degree liquid. So processing the beer was vital---not to mention the fact that it would have been a crying shame to waste all that wonderful beer.
