While the media were abuzz over the release of the independent review panel report on CBS's "memogate" scandal, another CBS scandal was emerging.
Coinciding with the release of the CBS report was the release of the January cover story, "Tin Soldier," in the Columbia Journalism Review, strongly suggesting that 60 Minutes Wednesday used phony Al Qaeda videotapes in its 2002 segment "Heart of Darkness." Dan Rather narrated the segment.
The powerful Columbia Journalism Review (CJR) story was written by Mariah Blake. It follows and credits another exposé, "Operation Desert Fraud, by Stacy Sullivan in the New Yorker. Both stories say that a key CBS source was a criminal and a fraud.

Plea to the writers of articles: stop using "-gate" as an suffix for every scandal out there. Watergate was not the end-all or be-all of scandals, why should we continue to evoke its memory over three decades later?
If you must throw on a suffix to denote a scandal, why not try something more original, and harkens back to something for which the perpatrator was never sufficiently punished: "-quiddick".
Welcome Hottub. About time you stopped lurking and posted something!
Email the story to FOX...different people, someone will pick it up.
good idea- anybody have a list of FOX email addresses?
And .. this little revelation will not bode well for their supposed expose of Tom Delay. Hopefully, it will cause a lot of people to question the report.
Also .. this Delay report is ANOTHER STORY FROM TEXAS .. which automatically makes me suspicious. The Texas dems have never recovered from Bush winning twice in their state. This whole Delay thing is just more Bush-bashing.
The FOX website does, just go to the frontpage at the very bottom where it says email us. Its small so look hard. It brings up all the email addresses. Just copy a portion of the story with a link and paste it.
done! hope FOX picks it up and embarrasses the heck out of them (even more)
I suspect the reason is that it was a Republican scandal.
Courage .... (as donkey dan would say)
"Memopot Dome"
"Whitewaterpot Dome"
"Nannypot Dome"

I like it!! "memoquiddick" and "Sandy Berger-quiddick". Watching Teddy "Chappaquiddick" Kennedy flap his gums yesterday made me so mad and all I kept thinking is, who cares what he says, he has already proven that he only cares about himself - leaving a woman to drown from an "accident" in which he was the responsible party - he does not know what personal responsibility is.
As a person living in MA, I just can not stand our senators.
Arrogant liberal media needs to be slapped down and have their ratings and advertizing $'s taken away. Fox has found the winning formula and is on the accendancy, ask the gawdam piece of buffalo dung ted, the moron, turner...
A true statement. None of his audience sticks to him.
"hotter than a Times Square watch"?
I just love it when Fox updates us upon the slow and painful demise of SeeBS and Dan Blather!
Keep it going here. There are limits to what the MSM will report. To much "there but the grace of some deity in whom I do not believe go I...." mentality.
