'Child erotica' found during search at Jackson's Neverland Ranch

Normally, after the police serve a search warrant on a location, an itemized list of what has been confiscated is released to the public. But nothing about the Michael Jackson case has been "normal" — not during the investigation, which began in 1993, and not during the most current case, which started in 2003.

Most of the Jackson search-warrant returns have been heavily redacted, leaving the public to guess what kind of "books, magazines, videos and DVDs" were taken from Neverland Ranch.

Now, Court TV's Investigative Unit can reveal some of the specifics.

One of the books confiscated from Jackson's home in 1993 is entitled "The Boy: A Photographic Essay." According to child erotica connoisseurs on the Internet, this rare book is considered to be "a homoerotic classic." The book, published in 1964, contains dozens of photographs of nude prepubescent boys, many in suggestive poses. There are nude boys captured outdoors, nude boys who appear to be posing for the camera, and boys displaying full frontal nudity.

Dr. Patricia Farrell, who has worked with pedophiles and their victims, studied the book for Court TV and concluded, "I think that this book could be used as a vehicle in a plan for seduction." Dr. Farrell said the photos in the book are perfect ammunition for a pedophile to use to begin a dialogue with a potential victim.

"It's to introduce that whole sexual kind of atmosphere," Dr. Farrell explained. "Then you can begin to use [it] and go on from there. You know, it's like going through a maze [for the molester]. They don't go through directly to the target — you go this way and that way to get to the target."

Retired NYPD sex crimes investigator Joe Gelfand, who worked in the pedophile unit for 12 years along with associates from the FBI, also studied the book. In his opinion, the coffee-table-size tome "is geared for people who, I would say, would be sexually attracted to adolescent boys." Asked if he considered it a pornographic book, Gelfand told Court TV, "I've made any arrests in my day and many times we've seen photographs like this in the homes of pedophiles. It's not sexually explicit, but it is erotica. It is child erotica."

In addition to the book, CTV's I-Unit can confirm that investigators from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department also confiscated loads of pornographic material from various locations in Jackson's home. (Watch the video for a full list.)

Porn movies with titles like "Barely Legal" and "Pimp Up, Ho's Down" were taken from the entertainer's master bedroom. Pornographic materials were found in Jackson's master bathroom, his den and in a second-floor closet, as well.

Other law enforcement sources explained that it is important to understand the atmosphere in which a book like this is discovered. If it is found in the possession of someone who collects books on photography, that's one thing. If it is found among a collection of pornography, that might indicate that detectives were dealing with a pedophile.

The I-Unit can confirm that when the book was confiscated, pornography was found, too. Search warrants list numerous porn magazines, movies, photographs and books that were taken as evidence.

Both Dr. Farrell and Investigator Gelfand call the discovery of mostly heterosexual pornographic magazines significant, because many molesters of young boys use such material to excite and stimulate their prey.

"The pedophile may think that the adolescent boy ... will probably be excited to see these magazines, more so than, say, magazines involving naked men," Gelfand said.

Michael Jackson and his attorneys have consistently said that Jackson is not guilty of the charges against him.

"He would never harm a child," his team has repeated many times. In the courtroom in Santa Maria, Calif., lead defense attorney Tom Mesereau has indicated they will present evidence at trial that proves the young accuser at the center of the current case (and his brother) helped themselves to Jackson's pornography collection —without the entertainer's permission.

That could explain how the boy's fingerprints got on a copy of a magazine called "Barely Legal." Sources tell Court TV forensic tests found both the boy's prints, as well as Jackson's fingerprints, on the same magazine.

"Michael Faggotson Jackson is a predatory pedophile that uses his wealth and fame to buy his way outta jail. If he were any other, he would've been in prison a long time ago"

You're right about That.

This pedophile needs to be taken off the streets, permanently.

And the parents who knowingly sold their kids for a weekend with Jackson in exchange for cash need to be arrested.

If they have something on Michael Jackson, then CHARGE HIM, for gawd's sake. If they don't have a solid case, then cut the b.s.

People are beginning to say, they'll never charge him. That's the buzz I hear.

"He is innocent until proven guilty"

No, conserv13, he is not guilty in the eyes of the law until he is proven guilty but that has little or nothing, unfortunately, to do with whether he actually committed the crimes. There are many guilty persons who have beaten the rap. For Jackson, I believe he is certainly warped in his relationships with children and, whether he has committed a crime or not or whether he is exonerated or found guilty, I will have nothing whatsoever to do with him and will advise all parents to keep their children from him. He is a sick man who needs intensive therapy if not institutionalizing, if for nothing else than his self-mutilation.

His family -- they are so much in denial that it's disgusting.

"His family -- they are so much in denial that it's disgusting."

His family has been financially dependent on Michael Jackson for many, many years. They sure don't want to see him go to jail.

The Clintonesque style of "he would never harm a child" is beginning to make me livid! You notice they never come out and say, "Child molesters should be shot on sight, Michael Jackson is not sexually interested in children"

What is almost as sickening is that all the people he supports financially are harboring him and allowing it to continue - including the idiots who allow their children to be around him!

I don't see any source cited for this claim, not even an 'anonymous spokesperson'. Since Jackson, for all practical purposes, can't sue Court TV for defamation, we might want to be a little careful believing this.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/01/26/earlyshow/leisure/celebspot/main669375.shtml

...Court TV Executive Investigative Editor Diane Dimond has been following the story.

She tells The Early Show co-anchor Rene Syler that the book, called "The Boy, A Photographic Essay" was seized from Neverland in 1993.

On the front cover is a photo of a naked boy looking out at the sea. It's a coffee table book, and the experts that I have questioned about it…said this book serves two purposes. Number one, self-gratification for a pedophile and number two, it opens up a dialogue for someone who's looking for a target. They go through the book, and there are many nice pictures of boys at play, at work, in the fields and studying at school.

" 'Look at these pictures,' " Dimond suggests a pedophile might say. " 'Look at this. Oh, they're skinny dipping. Would you like to skinny dip with me?' So it's used as a recruitment tool."

Since it's a coffee table book, couldn't it be seen simply as an art book, Syler asked.

"Absolutely," Dimond responded. "It could be. However, as you turn the pages, beginning on about page 25, suddenly you're struck by these completely nude little boys, in strange, provocative poses, laying on a rock with the waterfall falling on top of them. And the mental health professionals that deal with pedophiles that I talked to were very disturbed by the book."

Dimond explains that the prosecution wants two different collections of items admitted into evidence: the group of evidence taken in 1993; that investigation was cut short, because the victim's family took money, but they gathered evidence. Now, prosecutors want the '93 evidence plus the 2003 evidence taken from Neverland.

"And I will tell you, I have gotten to look at some of the search warrants, and what they got out of Michael Jackson's bedroom this time is stunning. There was a box of pornographic magazines at the end of bed. Dvd movies of porn (in various rooms and closets). …Pornographic materials and pictures of naked boys in several rooms of that home."

(snip)

I found it interesting that the article said it would be OK if a photography enthusiast had the "Boy: A Photographic Essay" book. Based on how it was described, I cannot fathom why anyone besides pedophiles would be interested in such a book. I can't even believe it was allowed to be published in the first place.

I am very concerned about the upcoming trial of Micahel Jackson. I know that everyone is innocent until proven guilty, but I already believe him to be guilty. What I am afraid of is an "OJ" type of trial where the jury is so enraptured by a celebrity that they aquit him. I think the legal term is jury nullification. Regardless of what evidence the prosecution presents, the jury will not find him guilty. If he is not convicted in this trial then any future legal actions taken against him will be refuted as the "man" having a vendetta against Jackson, making him virtually immune from any future arrest and trial. He would then be almost free to continue his abuse of young boys.

Sad to say but I feel he will get off because this has been draggin on for close to 15 years now. You throw enough money at a problem it will go away. If he should be convicted I think he will end up in another country or get a very minimal sentance with probation and counseling.

I think you're wrong. I think with a decent judge who doesn't let the defense stack the jury with a bunch of Michael loving imbeciles (and they're certainly out there...didn't Jackson just host a Christmas party and hundreds of children were allowed by their idiot parents to attend?). But with normal people on a jury and even a "moderate" judge, he'll be convicted, IMO

BTW: How do really famous people buy porn? Would they not be noticed or even if using a credit card their name will be on it?

Michael Jackson is surrounded by many enablers. I'm sure one or several of them happily procured for him whatever he wished. Porn, children, etc.
