If I remember correctly this has always been the case. If they want us to leave we will, but they certainly realize they need our help, so the chance of us being ask to leave is remote. Drudge must be bored.

It is news in a sense -- One the eve of the announcement we are announcing that we are going to be true to our word... Now the "occupation" will be harder to assail.
Good move trumping up old news, precisely because it is old news IMHO.
