EAST MOLINE, Illinois -- The dismembered body of a missing East Moline teenager has been found, and a classmate tonight is under arrest for her brutal murder. Sarah Kolb is charged with first degree murder in the death of Adrianne Reynolds, 16.

Prosecutors announced the murder charge at a news conference at Illinois State Police Headquarters this morning.

Authorities believe Adrianne was strangled and beaten with a wooden handle in a car in broad daylight at a Taco Bell parking lot in Moline. Later, her body was taken to Mercer County in an attempt to burn it.When that didn't work, her body was cut into pieces and dumped at Black Hawk State Park.

Authorities made the discovery around midnight.

Adrianne's father and stepmother, Tony and Joann Reynolds had reported their daughter missing when she failed to show up to work after school on Friday.

Kolb and Reynolds were classmates at Blackhawk Outreach Center in East Moline, an alternative school for kids trying to get their GED's. Friends there tell Newschannel 8 that Kolb had made a death threat against Reynolds the day she disappeared, and say Kolb was jealous of the new kid in school. Reynolds had been attending the school for just a few weeks, after coming to East Moline from Texas to live with her dad.

In court today, Judge John Bell read court documents that stated the crime was committed ''while acting with another,'' but so far, only Kolb has been charged.

Kolb, who told the judge today she works at the movie cinemas in Davenport, is being held at the Mary Davis juvenile detention center in Galesburg on $1 million bond.

EAST MOLINE -- Sarah Kolb and Adrianne Reynolds were classmates at Black Hawk Outreach Center. Their fellow classmates remember the chilling threats made the very day Adrianne disappeared.

"[Kolb] had mentioned to a few people that she was going to kill her," said Jackie Martinez, 17. "She [said], 'I don't care.' She told people she wasn't afraid to kill her and she would do it and she's not scared."

Adrianne was the new kid at school just a few weeks. She was trying to make a fresh start and earn a General Education Diploma.

"She was pretty and funny," said Betty Wilson, 16.

And the boys noticed. Wilson says that's what threw Sarah into a jealous rage.

"They just had some problems over boys and Sarah was upset," Wilson recalled.

Wilson said Kolb had been a student here for over a year and was popular.

"Sarah was really nice," said Wilson. "She got along with everyone and all the sudden Adianne came in, and it's totally different, she says, 'I will kill her, I will kill her.'"

Wilson was one of the last people to see Adrianne alive on Friday afternoon.

"I just saw Adrianne and Sarah and two males get into the car. I heard they were going to Taco Bell to get lunch."

Wilson says Adrianne wasn't looking for trouble. She only wanted to make a fresh start, desperate to fit in with the "in" crowd.

"Adrianne really wanted to be Sarah's friend. That was all she wanted."

Kolb had been a student at Rock Island High School, where former classmates categorized her as “a Goth” who often wore all-black clothes and black-and-white makeup.

“She very much stood out in school,” said Auston McLain, 19, a former classmate. “Sometimes she was gay and sometimes she was bi(sexual).

“Her mom is so nice — very smiley, very supportive of Sarah being a lesbian,” he said.

The mom was generally supportive of her daughter's descent to hell.

"That's common in the Quad Cities."

As a native of the QC, I would love to punish for your misguidedness... but after stealing a glance at your profile, I realize that God has done the heavy lifting for me.

Nice generalization, moron. You don't get out much, do you?

Ever read about Paula Cooper (Gary, Indiana)? 15 years old, skips scchool to smoke pot and drink wine with a friend, they then approach an elderly woman's home and ask if she and her friend can come in for "Bible lessons". Elderly lady (Ruth Pelke, 78) lets them in. In the course of the robbery (netting $10 and car keys), Paula sits on the chest of the elderly woman, stabbing her 33 times in the face, neck and chest. Thanks to 2 million signatures from Europe (especially Italy), the Death sentence was overturned. She's eligible for parole after 26 years served... about 7 years from now. She'll be 41.

>> The mom was generally supportive of her daughter's descent to hell. <<

As calculating and evil as the girl looks in her pictures, she might have threatened her mom into submission too.

>> "Her mom is so nice — very smiley, very supportive of Sarah being a lesbian,” he said." <<

That might be her public face. There might have been lots of trouble at home. Sarah sounds like a really rebellious teen hell-bent on her way regardless of the consequences. She was probably a murderer just waiting to happen.

Why would Europe opinion influence events in Indiana?

Call me clueless but ..

I'd really like to have the EXACT details of what music this pathogen listened to with her "mom" supporting. I ask 'cause I have two(2) teens that are being educated as to the FULL impact of everything they hear and watch. They KNOW how, when taken out of context or even as written, music(i.e. KMFDM, rap, etc.) and media can be a fatal influence(Columbine).

Having TWO loving parents that stay involved(know what's going on) is also important. NONE of this is a guarantee of no wrong paths.

Hi,

Refer to the article posted in #44 in this thread. It's reported the teens were "Goths."

A website is also given

www.religioustolerance.org/goth.htm

Last night I did a Google search on "Goth teens" and one of the things that stood out repeatedly is they have a fascination with death.

Cory Gregory, 17, of Moline, is being charged with two counts of first-degree murder...

Two counts? I found one source that said Kolb was charged with one count of first-degree murder. Anyone know the rest of the story?

I wondered about that too. Maybe it's a misprint.

Went back & re-read the article. Missed this part on first read: ''There could be more charges and more arrests coming down the pike,'' Terronez said of the continuing murder investigation. ''From (Kolb’s) standpoint, stay tuned.''

Could be that either Adrienne was pregnant or that the cops expect some other bodies to turn up...or both?

Or could be that Kolb was charged ahead of the autopsy report?

She could be one of the "goths." They are strange indeed. How sickening this all is. To dismember someone after trying to burn them? Too damn many videos and tv shows!

Well, apparently she meant it THIS time. I had a feeling she may have been a 'goth' girl. We see them now and then all dressed in black with weird makeup and hair.

"What about a working mother? OR a busy one for that matter."

Then the working, busy mother should have raised her children.

I was never in an alternative school...and I was free to drive myself to and from the regular high school.

But how do you splain this part: ''From (Kolb’s) standpoint, stay tuned.'' Combined w/ the reports of the other teen being charged w/ two counts? Or, it may be that the police don't expect that third suspect to turn up alive?

I got offended for a second, and then I realized it is an Alternative school.

I guess its for bad kids.
