TRENTON (AP) - Acting Gov. Richard J. Codey said yesterday he threatened to take a radio show host outside after the shock jock made dismissive comments about postpartum depression, an ailment that has afflicted first lady Mary Jo Codey.
"Somebody made disparaging remarks about my wife. I defended my wife like any man or husband would," Codey told a throng of reporters at the State House just after addressing a group of mayors. "I have a right to defend my family and I will."

That right does not include doing bodily injury to another who merely expressed a legitimate opinion. (Is asking someone to "step outside", while doing nothing else, actually considered "defending one's family"?)
I remember when Carton was on WIP in Philly. He was an unbearable ass then, too. I doubt I would have much sympathy for most things Codey would do politically, but he would go up in my estimation if he took a pop at Carton.
So McGreevy is gone for good now?
What's your point?
My first boss gave me this bit of wise advice:
"Never get in a pissing contest with a skunk!
The governor apparently hasn't gotten word....
He should have punched the guy in the mouth on air and taken his chances in front of two juries.
NJ 101.5 is the absolute nadir of talk radio. This station has the most irritating ex-DJ types with 8th grade educations ranting about government, etc. Good for Codey
Reporters think their being a journalist gives them a license to be crude ,rude and impolite, Too bad Codey didnt knock his teeth out. Who the hell do these people think they are , common decency means nothing to them. This is the first time lately I have a DEm I like.
Guess there's still hope for Frank Lautenberg.
"I wish I weren't governor, I'd take you out," Codey said, according to The Star-Ledger of Newark's account of the exchange."
Which is why DemocRats shouldn't be allowed to carry guns (sarcasm).
Seriously the talk show host deserved it. Insult a man's wife, and he'll act like a man - if he is one.
Insulting a man's wife in a milieu where he is constrained from response is one of the most gutless acts possible.
Not that I condone the violence, this radio host is an idiot.
As a mother of 3, I can tell you for certain that post-partem depression is very real. Fortunately, for me, it manifested itself in the form of panic attacks, and not bad thoughts toward my children.
let me guess... democrap? they are always enumerating endless 'rights' they have
ZULU is correct.
And, Zulu, this is ain't A "you're wife has a big ass" level insult. Post-partum depression, any tragedy to the wife/mother, is a family threatening tragedy.
you're = your
