The American Embassy warned US citizens in Kuwait on Thursday to be cautious, saying "terrorists" have been conducting surveillance of at least one building where Westerners live.
According to The AP, it was the fourth security-related message from the embassy this month.
The embassy warning message pointed to two shootouts this month between Kuwaiti police and armed suspects that killed four.
The embassy warden message said it has "information that the group behind the recent shootings did not distinguish between official and civilian targets and that they conducted surveillance of at least one facility known to house a large number of Western civilians."
The embassy identified the buildings as the Alia and Ghaliya towers in Fintas, south of Kuwait City. Additional security measures have been put in place at the location, the warden message said.
"Heightened security awareness should be exercised in all residential complexes, as terrorists have specifically targeted a variety of Western housing facilities in the past," it said.
The embassy asked Americans to maintain a low profile, avoid areas where Westerners are known to congregate and report any suspicious activity to police.

Kuwait: American Embassy warns US citizens from possible attacks
.....this is very, very,....Wise!
IIRC this is about the third warning since Christmas or New Years for Kuwait.
Something is in the works there.
Hopefully they catch the scum before they carry out their intended plans.
Except for the Marine guards, the embassy staffs are useless.
France warns citizens of Kuwait threat
The French embassy in Kuwait has advised its citizens in the Gulf state to avoid shopping malls and to move around only when necessary after clashes between suspected insurgents and security forces, sources said.
The embassy contacted its wardens asking them to convey the new warning to French nationals, the sources said, adding that the advice was precautionary and not based on any specific threat.
Two Kuwaiti security officers were killed and four others wounded in two gun fights with suspected insurgents on 10 and 15 January.
Two suspects, including a Saudi, were also killed in the clashes.
Threat
The French warning followed an advisory from the US embassy on Thursday warning of the danger of more unrest, saying residential complexes for Westerners could be targeted.
The British embassy also warned its citizens of a continued threat to Westerners in Kuwait.
Kuwait, which served as the main launch pad for the US-led invasion of Iraq in March 2003, is home to about 12,000 Americans and 9000 Europeans, mostly Britons.
Kuwaiti security forces have arrested about 15 suspected Islamist insurgents, according to Interior Minister Shaikh Nawaf al-Ahmad Al Sabah, but an unspecified number, including the group's spiritual leader, are still at large.
'Organised group'
Al Sabah acknowledged last week that the insurgents belonged to an "organised group", but the country's national guard chief, Shaikh Salim al-Ali al-Sabah, said some of the group were members of al-Qaida.
The authorities say they have seized large quantities of arms, ammunition and explosives since the clashes.
