Jennings Concedes Iraq Improvements,
But Better Off with Saddam

Jennings: A sentence on infrastructure work in Iraq where people were better off under Saddam. The January 25 CyberAlert noted that though ABC's Peter Jennings relayed on Monday how "every U.S. officer encountered today said the media has missed or under-reported" U.S. efforts to re-build Iraq, ABC never did show any video to illustrate the money spent on "sewer pipes, sewage treatment, landfills for garbage, available clean water." On Tuesday, Jennings gave a sentence to how "in parts of Sadr City in eastern Baghdad, new water pipes and new paving don't go unnoticed." But, he quickly added, "in Baghdad's Shula neighborhood, lousy plumbing equals pessimism." His report focused on how in central Iraq the security, electricity and water situations are worse than a year ago. Jennings, however, noted that "two out of three Iraqis in the central zone here told us they are optimistic about the future. That's resilience for you." Yet, Jennings asserted that "today we hear the same thing we heard last summer. 'When Saddam Hussein was in power, this [violence] never would have happened.'"

Jennings is a high school drop-out anti-American Canadian, who writes speeches in his spare time for democrat party luminaries such as his good buddy Barbra Steisand.
The sooner this evil swine professional deceiver is off the air, the better.

Quote from article: "Yet, Jennings asserted that "today we hear the same thing we heard last summer. 'When Saddam Hussein was in power, this [violence] never would have happened.'"
The violence was there, Saddam was just good at muffling people as he buried them in trenches, also he had them killed off away from the city unlike the terrorists.

Un-frigging-believeable how the liberal-progressive-demokkkRAT-socialist-commie-nazi-socialist MSMs can fly in the face of truth and reality, with a straight face, day after day.

'When Saddam Hussein was in power, this [violence] never would have happened.'" Yeah, Saddam was busy cornerning the market on violence himself. Couldn't have any insurgency stealing his market share.

There are none so blind as those who will not see. The question is not whether there would have been violence under Sadaam but whether Iraq is better off now, a year from now or 5 years from now than they would have been if we didn't do anything.
Liberals have no spine. Period. They are the same people who have insisted for a generation that spanking is bad. An entire generation of kids grew up with no respect for anything because of them.
They add nothing to any discussion, argument or debate besides hand wringing what if's, whining and platitudes that make you feel good but dont accomplish anything.

This is actually quite frightening. To praise the 'security' of a brutal dictator in preference to liberty.
The guy should be yanked from the air, IMO.

Under Saddam, nothing was better and no complaining about it (like this speaker to Jennings) would have been tolerated much less broadcast to the wider world. How naive can the jerk be?
If no one reported or documented failings of the system under Saddam, and dissatisfaction never reached the country at large, who was going to challenge him ???(and we all know there were more heinous and inhuman deficiencies in that system than infrastructure malfunctions) Why complain about the sewer system if looking sideways at Saddam's portrait rated you and your family gratuitous torture? If you did not have the money to travel around or the authority to do so, how could you know that your environment was any worse than any one elses? Keeping people poor, means keeping them in their place. Saddam had it all worked out, as most dictators do. No mobility, no social problems, no dissent. Just flood the airways with state approved ra ra stuff and everyone is happy. You would think a 'journalist' would understand 'Dictatorship 101' from any Political Science prerequisite class.
Furthermore, when's the last time Jennings did without clean water, sewer service or electricity and for how long?

And if Clinton did the same as the Bush admin. Jennings would say "A breath of fresh air has fallen onto the Iraqi people as President Clinton liberated them from a brutal and sadistic regime".
