Jennings Concedes Iraq Improvements, But Better Off with Saddam

Jennings: A sentence on infrastructure work in Iraq where people were better off under Saddam. The January 25 CyberAlert noted that though ABC's Peter Jennings relayed on Monday how "every U.S. officer encountered today said the media has missed or under-reported" U.S. efforts to re-build Iraq, ABC never did show any video to illustrate the money spent on "sewer pipes, sewage treatment, landfills for garbage, available clean water." On Tuesday, Jennings gave a sentence to how "in parts of Sadr City in eastern Baghdad, new water pipes and new paving don't go unnoticed." But, he quickly added, "in Baghdad's Shula neighborhood, lousy plumbing equals pessimism." His report focused on how in central Iraq the security, electricity and water situations are worse than a year ago. Jennings, however, noted that "two out of three Iraqis in the central zone here told us they are optimistic about the future. That's resilience for you." Yet, Jennings asserted that "today we hear the same thing we heard last summer. 'When Saddam Hussein was in power, this [violence] never would have happened.'"

For generations, Iraq has had a problem with their people...as has all of the Middle East with the exception of Israel. They aren't exactly rocket scientists, having gone without reading, writing, and arithmetic for a long time. They've been deprived, beaten, tortured, and humiliated by their own leaders. The US has been sold to them by Al Jazeera and the mullahs as the Great Satan. We arrive to bring them into the twenty-first century, and this includes the women, who haven't had a say in anything. Mop up is taking a while, plus educating everyone, plus rebuilding the infrastructure that Saddam let go to wrack and ruin.

For Peter Jennings to say with a straight face that most Iraqis have it worse now than they did before we arrived is insulting and laughable. What makes Jennings think people will tell him how they really feel? Al Jazeera still spouts lies 24/7. There's a fear we'll pull out and leave everybody to the mercy of a new tyrant maybe even worse than Saddam. Some Iraqis are terrified Saddam will return to power, some hope he will, some are venal, a great many are just plain tired. We've foolishly fought a PC war, and terrorists from other countries stream over the borders and attack Iraqis as well as Americans. Iraqis know full well we could blast whole towns, entire regions to kingdom come in a matter of minutes, but we've taken great pains not to do this. Does anyone think if conditions were reversed, that our enemies would do the same?

And then we have US democratic politicians putting American soldiers' lives at risk every time they undermine what GW is trying to accomplish in Iraq and the Middle East. Fat Teddy and Kerry, Boxer, Daschle, et. al, whining and complaining about the war. Howling for us to pull out...it's another Vietnam, etc.. That's a gift that keeps on giving, thank you very much Hanoi Jane and Kerry. They'd rather we fight this war on America's main streets, and won't be satisfied until and unless we lose.

7.62 is closer to a 30 cal. Like an M-60. BTW have you seen what a 50 cal does to someone? Nasty! Don't mess with the U.S.!

In my opinion, Peter Jennings and his ilk...

Ought to be Deported to their Favorite ISLAMA-NAZI SEWER HOLES...IMMEDIATELY!

Too bad Jennings didn't spend time in Saddam's RAPE and TORTURE Chambers.

He is a Leftist Limo-Liberal IDIOT...a Prime Time example of just how Despicable his brand of Socialist Journalism IS.

We decided many, many years ago that we would NEVER watch any of these over paid ANTI-GOD, ANTI-LIFE, ANTI-AMERICAN Empty Suits and Socialist Shills.

In fact, we Never watch anything on ABC, NBC or CBS with the exception of some Sports programs like Major League Baseball and Football Games.

That's an AR-15 in 5.56mm.

Mine is the M14 NATO round, AR-10A4 in .308cal , with Leupold Glass, of which I have several Class III units: full-auto, 3-round burst, short barrel, silencer etc. I carried one of these in Nam for my 3 tours.

More info, here.

Yet, Jennings asserted that "today we hear the same thing we heard last summer. 'When Saddam Hussein was in power, this [violence] never would have happened.'"

Well, in a way, that's sort of true. With Saddam in power, there was a different kind of violence and terror, more insidious, hidden, and a fearful kind of 'order', wrought out of terror. The men with power and guns were Saddam's men, who used their power brutishly, but this was not reported on the news, not to the Iraqis or others, but squelched. Little wonder, with access to that kind of maniacial power, they are fighting so vigorously to oppose the elections and proposed democracy in Iraq today. And all the more reason we, with our allies, need to be their to help the Iraqis regain their country. Once again, Peter misses the bigger picture, intentionally or not.

Of all my *toys*, it's my favorite. I can reach out and touch anyone at 1,000yds. I carry it daily in my Jeep, with 6 x 20-round mags, fully-loaded and ready to rock 'n roll, in case TSHTF.

I wish I could have carried one of those in Germany. Instead I had the M-16/M-203 combo. And I thought that was bad! Peace through superior firepower!

Jennings never even finished HIGH SCHOOL????? Why is this so unimportant to the so-called intellectuals who tell everyone how important education is and how "dumb" the President is (Harvard graduate notwithstanding), but never say a thing about their boy Jennings' lack of education beyond the 12th grade? Is there a double standard here?

"When Saddam Hussein was in power, this [violence] never would have happened."

Anyone want to bet this quote came from one of Saddam's Baathist buddies?

"Is Jennings really a High School Dropout?"

Yes, indeed!! And from a second-rate Canadian backwater area to boot. Many liberals are arrogant narcissistic morons, like this anal orifice of a snot-nosed fool. For a list of famous drop-outs including Jennings see:

LOL

Jennings is a nightmare moron with vast undeserved power that he uses strictly for evil and as a salve for his terminal narcissism.
