Little by little the look of the country changes because of the men we admire.
Funny how lines from an old movie occur to you at a time like this, when you learn of the death of an old soldier who never sought the limelight yet earned a footnote in a presidential campaign. The look of the country does change because of the men we admire. For good or ill.

THe difference between men like Eugene Holmes and Bill Clinton is the difference between honor and dishonor.
RIP, Eugene Holmes
Thanks for posting this.
Eugene Holmes, may God rest your soul.
Poignant - thanks.
Thats what I'm talkin about
Even though I have been a registered member of FR for some time, I have never considered my computer sk ills to be good enough to post an article.
This morning, though, I thought, "This needs to be shared with all Freepers (and lurkers as well)".
I'm glad that I was able to post this for two reasons.
1. So that others could read it.
2. To honor a very honorable, decent man -- Eugene Holmes.
I felt the same way Irene, but you beat me to it!
oops! I meant to say you beat me to it to you, chs68!
My bad ;)
But never Irene!
(although it is a very nice name, I prefer my own name).
I have the same first name as Mr. Jenner, Mr. Willis, and Mr. Springsteen.
Thank you, I was not a freeper then & barely paid attention to politics.
By the way, I went to your profile page, and there are many good things on it.
My favorite, though (and I've saved it for possbile future use), is the comment you have from scamorama.com.
Absolutely priceless!
