My thoughts exactly? What are they thinking? I hope we have a few left-lane drivers here on FR so they can comment about the mind-set of these drivers. It seems to cross all ages also.
Ok. If someone in the right lane is going below the speed limit or riding their brakes or whatever and I get in the left lane to go around them, I'm going to do it at a speed and distance that I feel is safe for both of us. If I'm going 65 in a 65 and the speed racer going 90 runs up behind me flashing lights and tailgating, because I don't "get over" immediately , tough. We have to share the road. IMO the DPS guys need to spend more time on addressing the rage driving issues instead of making people who are going the speed limit get out of their way so they can speed.
"What are they thinking?"
I can tell you exactly what some of them are thinking, and I'm sure some of them will be along shortly to say so: "I'm doing the speed limit or a little over and it's my god-given right to drive in any lane I want, and anyone who wants to go any faster is speeding and so must be in the wrong."
BTW, in Nova Scotia where I grew up the signs are very clear: "KEEP RIGHT EXCEPT TO PASS" - none of this "Slower Traffic Keep Right" stuff, because nobody thinks they're the slower traffic.
I almost never go over the speed limit, and there is one part of my daily trek where I MUST drive in the left lane because my exit is off the left, instead of the right.
The IDIOTS...yes, idiots...that insist on going 80 in the 60 always *wave* at me, with at least one of their fingers. It doesn't matter what lane you are in though. If I go the speed limit in the RIGHT lane they get all pissed. I have defensively driven myself out of about 3 accidents in the past week, because these morons do not think.
On a similar note, I met a very interesting person the other day. It was the lady who owns the interstate! Isn't that cool?!? I really look up to her. She doesn't have to use turn signals and she is allowed to change into my lane even when I'm in it! Must be cool to be her! /sarcasm
There are, and the typical mindset seems to be, "I can drive in any damned lane I want, and to Hell with the rest of you." Of course, they never actually say it like that, but it's the way it comes across.
