They think it may have "got lower." And if the expedition proves otherwise, I bet we never hear a retraction story.Untrue.
Since this story is "Everest Shrinks Because Global Warming Melting the Peak", there will be a story "Everest Grows Because Global Warming Raises Seas, Pushing Everest Higher."
ALL things are caused by Global Warming.

Just wondering: Does it EVER get above freezing at the peak of Everest?

Just wondering: Does it EVER get above freezing at the peak of Everest?Stop asking sensible questions, or our environmental agenda might be foiled.

And everything (bad) is Bush's fault. Thanks for reminding me!The votes for the highest mountain in the world were fixed by Diebold machines in Ohio. It was a fraud!

That's not a picture of Everest...that's actually Lhotse. (which bumps up to Everest)
Here's a picture of both.
Everest is on the left.(with the jetstream blowing snow)

Could be the result from the earthquake that happened last mouth that caused the tsunami , it depends when the measurement was taken.

The previous view was of Everest from the south (Napal side)
Heres a view of the North Face as seen from Tibet.

"I shrink also when it is cold."Yeah ... well we boys all do that.
But I was 6' tall when I was 23 years old, and now I'm 5'- 10 3/4".
Don't think this Goebels warming isn't reel. ;)

"Why do they keep measuring...over and over and over."

In this case, even a 'different result' still doesn't prove anything!
If the snow pace on the peak is 4 ft less, it could just as easily be a result of an avalanche.

Yesterday, there was 12 inches of packed snow on the ground. Today, there's only 8 inches. What do I do? This global warming is scaring me.

This wouldn't have happened if Kerry was elected!
To: Arrowhead1952
I found it interesting that the Indian gentleman who first measured its height did so using simple Trig formulas and came up with a height that was only seven feet off.
To: Sacajaweau
That does it! Thanks to Bush's Global Warming, the Earth is shrinking!

Travis Peak in western Travis County TX, was regarded as the highest point in the county for years. When GPS came along, the highest point (by less than 18 inches) was actually on a ranch about two miles east of Travis peak.
No one had ever questioned the longtime assumption that was also done using math formulas and survey instruments.
