Gay marriage on the Simpsons

Coming out in Springfield Which of 'The Simpsons' regulars is gay -- and will get married when their town legalizes same-sex weddings? By Stephen Kiehl Sun Staff James Dobson has his work cut out for him. Last week, the conservative flame-thrower denounced SpongeBob SquarePants - the harmless cartoon sponge who holds hands with his friends and lives in an underwater pineapple - for appearing in a "pro-homosexual video." Next month, a regular character on The Simpsons will come out and be married in a same-sex wedding. Simpsons producers haven't revealed which character turns out to be gay, but that hasn't stopped fans from speculating or placing bets on who it might be. Patty Bouvier, the chain-smoking, raspy-voiced sister of Marge who has rarely dated men, seems to be the leading contender - one Web betting site, PaddyPower.com, stopped taking wagers because so much money was being placed on her. But before spreading more idle gossip, let's deal in facts.

Comic book dude gets excited about female comic-book characters, but that could just be because they're so cool. Ya know, the way drama queen queens get worked up over Barbara Streisand. So he could be gay.Possibly. "The Simpsons" is not known for continuity but: Comic Book Guy had a fling with Skinner's mom, and also said (after receiving Homer's "Mr. X" email): "Do I dare cross the final frontier?"

Well, in the episode I saw on Sunday evening, Barney encountered the woman he had had a severe crush on in high school.
She is now some hot-shot "journalist" who rebuffs Tom Brokaw's advances.
And she said some pretty hurtful things to Barney about what she thought of him in High School.

Yes, THAT'S the one. Priniple Skinner's mother.
Shows you how much I watch TV anymore. It's been that long since I saw an episode of the Simpsons.

I really hope it isn't Ned.
Of course, being a fairly normal, fairly well-adjusted Christian, he would be the sterotypical choice for Hollywood to bring down.
Hence, I would not be surprised if it is Ned.
I'm wondering that myself. I do watch "The Simpsons" occasinally but I think they "jumped the shark" around 1997 or 1998.

Would that there would be more gay folks like Smithers -- who truly believe that what they do in the privacy of their own bedroom is no one else's business.
Exactly my thoughts, well put.

Why does the gay agenda have to be shoved into every nook and cranny of our lives? Why can't they just leave it alone? No one wants this, just look at the flames their initiatives went down in, in November.

I trace the demise of The Simpsons to when Conan O'Brian left. The show just hasn't been the same for me since. Oh, for an episdoe 1/10th as good as "Mr. Plow"!

Nah, couldn't be Ned, he's clearly hetero. He was married and has had two kids, and has dated at least two hot babes, and bedded one of them, since Maude's character was killed off. He's not gay, he's just a really nice, Fred Rogers-ish guy.
Carl and Lenny I could definitely see.

I'll share your pain. I play piano. It seems like all the famous piano players have come out gay. Liberace, we knew. But Billy Joel?
