CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) — A middle school principal was arrested Tuesday, accused of offering money to a 14-year-old male student to take off his clothes.

Daniel L. Edwards, 55, was being held on $35,000 bail after being arrested at his home in Pennsauken. He faces child endangerment and official misconduct charges.

The 14-year-old boy came forward on Monday and said Edwards had approached him three times this month. The principal allegedly asked the student to take off items of clothing, including his shirt, pants and "drawers."

The boy put a micro-cassette recorder in his shirt pocket during the most recent exchange, and authorities said that a taped conversation corroborates the student's account of events.

Interesting point comparing the number of school officials who have either molested kids or attempted to, with the Catholic Church situation.

This is why their should be zero tolerance for teacher and student sexual contact and the penalties should be very severe.

For those still in the Public Schools, they should go back to the way they used to do things. Two people where never left alone, there was always a third or more there. Doors where left open, no secret or private meetings, everything done in open. Teachers should never be meeting with any students alone as a rule and any child asked by a teacher to meet him alone, say no, against school policy. All teacher/student discussions/meeting done with another adult present only. Children should stay in groups always with friends, never let them be isolated, where they could be taken advantage of and some adult abuse them. Girls and boys stay in groups going from class to class, washrooms, lockers, anything, a type of buddy system in this jungle of perverts known as the public schools. News yesterday in Chicago area of some guy using tape and taping of young students to abuse them!!!

Children are so vulnerable and need protection like young tender plants. It is so outrageous that some of those who are supposed to be their protectors and nurturers are predators. Such people should be very severely punished, but of course, they rarely are.

This goes on far more than being reported. Just last night we had a jr. high teacher accused of having sex with a 14 year old girl.

The detectives found the red lacy underwear in his classroom that the girl described along with a personal note from the girl. It was consensual.

What is interesting is that he had been fired from a nearby school district for downloading porn from the internet while at school.

I worked in school district personnel. Nothing happens to these people. This guy here, very well, could be promoted to the administration office and get a pay raise. Meanwhile the school administrators and school board will tell the community they are doing you a favor by keeping him away from students.
