It takes 2/3 of the Senate to pass a treaty. Do we have 33 conservatives to block this. I hope we do.

Thanks for posting this.

Dubya is my president, too. However as of late, he is terrifying me. What Condi said as a rep of the pres, on this, shocked me.

I would have thought this to be an excellent time to exercise his veto for the first time. Apparently not. Do we have 33 conservatives to block this? Who knows. This treaty has been around for a while, why try to pass it now if conservatives are not on board.

Theoretically. But not with the deception the GOP has demonstrated they are capable of using in order to bolster the positions of the UN and the State Dept.

Read how the UN Desertification Treaty was deliberately slipped through the Senate in the wee hours of the morning with no recorded vote by the GOP majority. Original story from World Net Daily, posted here on FR. See posts #8 and 9:

Rick Santorum is my Senator and I was shocked at his reply to my letter to him on the LOST. In essence he said it had the support of the Senate committee and the president, and inferred that it would likely be affirmed by the Senate. This was around September or so of last year.

Here's a hot link to my previous FR posting of Henry Lamb's articles on how the Senate slipped through an equally contentious UN treaty with no debate and no recorded vote. Posts #8 and #9:
