Rick Santorum is my Senator and I was shocked at his reply to my letter to him on the LOST. In essence he said it had the support of the Senate committee and the president, and inferred that it would likely be affirmed by the Senate. This was around September or so of last year.

Here's a hot link to my previous FR posting of Henry Lamb's articles on how the Senate slipped through an equally contentious UN treaty with no debate and no recorded vote. Posts #8 and #9:

New U.N. treaty ratified quietly

Just damn!

Didn't see that one. (the desertification treaty) I'm constantly amazed at how little the aristocracy in this counry consider us in what they do. Someday, all this stuff is going to come home to roost, and it ain't gonna be pretty for some.

LOST is going to pass too, most likely with similar methods being employed. The same method was used to pass the original "assault weapons ban".

I think one solution for this is that voice votes be completely abandoned. There should be a roll call vote on every single bill passed. Additionally, the full text of every single bill should be read, word-for-word before it is voted upon. Maybe then, we'll see less insane law come out of congress.
