It's no secret where I'm going to be every Monday night for the next six months - in front of the TV watching 24, Fox's gripping, edge-of-your seat, real-time series.
For three seasons, I've been an avid viewer and I'm hooked once again after watching 24's exciting fourth-season opener last weekend.
As usual, rogue protagonist Jack Bauer, played by Kiefer Sutherland, is breaking the rules to track down terrorists.
But the terrorists aren't eastern Europeans or traitorous government officials this time. The evil-doers are a Muslim couple apparently involved in a mysterious train derailment and the kidnapping of the U.S. Defence secretary...

That's what drove me away. I'M KIDNAPPED! Oh, I've escaped. I'M KIDNAPPED AGAIN! Oh, I've escaped...UGH!
LOL--ain't that the truth!
Yeah, but that's no proof that he was in NY. If he's part of the conspiracy, then I suspect that his call might have been a way of keeping tabs on her whereabouts.
Kim Raver is a nice touch though.
Don't get me wrong it's a great show but the show is pure fairy tale. Jack Bauer would have been arrested for torturing a prisoner and the secretary of defense would be dead. In today's USA we brought up on charges an Army Colonel who shot at a prisoner. We bring up on charges Army personnel who put underwear on prisoner's heads.
Jack Bauer may as well be the Easter Bunny.
I'll still watch the show because it's good. But I do wonder where did Keifer Sutherland stand on the Army prison harrasment scandal? Is this going to be another set of actors making their living off of a protecting America theme similar to Harrison Ford only to come out against America when we could use their support?
The last Clancy novel made into movie with Ben Affleck, changed the plot from muslims to nazi's. I refused to see it because of this critical plot change.
If the muslims feel so badly, they need to modify their own people's behavior, and stop the hate towards the rest of us.
Last week, Irish Americans were cast as bad guys, on the show ALIAS, Where is the outcry???
IRA members are white not muslim. You can only offend white people and get away with it???
Jack became addicted to heroin so he could infiltrate a Mexican drug cartel in Season 3, which took place roughly 5 years after the events in Season 1.
But seriously, just when I was starting to like Chloe they take her off the show. Maybe she'll be back.
Richard Gere needs to pound salt.
Heritage Foundation would be in context she's the SecDef's daughter and apparently in tune with his politics.
In defense of the movie (which was terrible, BTW), there were Nazi terrorists in Clancy's novel, as well. The movie just deleted the Muslims and kept the Nazis.
Maybe CAIR should spend more time policing their own and draining the cesspool of Islamists that is giving the religion of peace a bad name. How bout some street marches and candlight vigils against Muslim radicals for starters?
I think she will. I HOPE she will, anyway.
You watch Alias for the plot? Uh huh ;)
hmm, you could be right. There are a few twists evolving throught his plot. The daughter recognized one of the men in the compound he was white. They haven't id'd him yet. Things are slowly unfolding.
I'll always support this show just because of that salute to our soldiers. Way to go '24.'
Maybe, but it's going to be hard to divorce Islam from the evil doers in this plot, as just about all the bad guys are middle eastern Muslim males and a mmMf.
Maybe they are all dupes of Gary Halwell, wasp right wing fundamentalist preacher, who dyed his hair, grew a beard and convinced them he was Osama Yourmomma, Muslim terrorist icon. Oops, that would make them Muslim again.
Nah, there are too many wanton killers identified as Muslim, to get out of that stereotype cleanly, the plot would move too far into the unbelievable area and they would lose audience.
