PRESS RELEASE

January 24, 2005 American Family Association P.O. Drawer 2440 Tupelo, MS 38803 URL: www.afa.net

Contact: Kathryn Hooks (khooks@afa.net) 662-844-5036 x227

AFA threatened with lawsuit for warning parents about video Tupelo, MS – American Family Association (AFA) has been threatened with a lawsuit because it warned parents of elementary school children of a video that leads them to a web site that promotes the acceptance of homosexuality. We Are Family Foundation (WAFF) has threatened the lawsuit because of an article appearing in the AFA Journal regarding the video, scheduled to be shown simultaneously on the Disney Channel, Nickelodeon and PBS on March 11. The video is a remake of the song "We Are Family" and also is scheduled to be shipped to 61,000 public and private schools. The article can be found at AFAJournal.org.

Schools are urged to use the video to promote the acceptance of diversity, including homosexuality. While the video itself does not overtly promote homosexuality, it serves as a hook to entice children and teachers to use the web site and the materials there such as teacher lesson plans, which explicitly promote the homosexual lifestyle. Lessons include such topics as "Talking About Being ‘Out'" and "Uncovering Attitudes about Sexual Orientation." In these lesson plans, teachers are taught how to introduce students to "the concepts of homophobia and compulsory heterosexuality."

"Parents need to be aware that their children could be required by the school to participate in a discussion promoting the homosexual lifestyle," said Donald E. Wildmon, AFA Chairman. "Innocent little children should not be encouraged to accept homosexuality by any teacher or other authority figure," he stated.

WAFF says the article caused WAFF to be "exposed to substantial public ridicule and harm." WAFF told AFA to "render a public apology" regarding the article, or WAFF would "commence an action in the United States District Court against (Wildmon) and the owners of the AFA Journal."

Wildmon responded that AFA would not offer a public apology. "Our facts are well documented and truthful," Wildmon said. "No apology is necessary for telling the truth."

The program uses characters familiar to the nation's children. These will include Arthur, Barney, Blue's Clues, Bob the Builder, The Book of Pooh, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Dora the Explorer, Jimmy Neutron, Kim Possible, Lilo & Stitch:The Series, Little Meremaid, Madeline, The Magic School Bus, The Mupplet Show, Rugrats, Sesame Street and SpongeBob SquarePants.

"Contrary to what many media accounts have said, this issue is not about Sponge Bob being homosexual. It is about an attempt to promote homosexuality to elementary school children," Wildmon stated.

One of the teacher's guides available online at the WAFF Web site is called "Writing for Change: Raising awareness of Difference, Power, & Discrimination." Full of politically correct lessons on feminism, it is also a primer for teachers who want to promote the homosexual lifestyle to children.

According to the teacher's guide, children should be taught to reject the idea "that women are ‘naturally' or innately drawn sexually and emotionally toward men, and men toward women," or that heterosexuality is normal and should be the only model for marriage.

Students are expected to be influenced by the lesson plans. One of the follow-up questions asks the kids: "How will understanding these definitions change your thinking about compulsory heterosexuality and homophobia?"

This is a threat for a SLAP suit. Basically to shut them up but it is already too late because the they have been exposed.

NOBODY said sponge bob was a homosexual. IT WAS being said that these characters are directed for children and these children's characters were being used to promote homosexual behavior.

The AFA should just send them a very public response via their website which shows these frauds in their own words.

If they did not want sponge bob to be associated with homosexuality, they should not have associated sponge bob with homosexuals.

They killed their own goose.

If a suit is filed it would open them up to DISCOVERY, ALL meetings would be subject to discover.

IN FACT: if may be very good for the AFA to advise thes homo-promoters to keep all documents in anticipation of litigation. If they destroy anything then they risk sanctions.

You need to get those pages on here FAST because even the WAYBACK MACHINE will pull pages upon request.

A thread needs to be set up with all this stuff preserved.

BTW if a suit is filed, the old versions of the pages are discoverable AND the timing of the change is evidence of their culpability.

DEVELOPING A
COMMON LANGUAGE
  Part I.>>
General Terms associated with diversity awareness, anti-bias programs and resources

  Part II.>>
Terms that refer to specific manifestations of prejudice and discrimination

Part I. General Terms
The following are general terms often associated with diversity awareness, anti-bias programs and resources. Specific ways that some of these concepts manifest in society are defined in Part II of this glossary.

Anti-bias
Anti-bias is an active commitment to
    challenging prejudice, stereotyping
    and
    all forms of discrimination.

Bias
Bias is an inclination or preference either for or against an individual or group that interferes with impartial judgment.
Bigotry
Bigotry is an unreasonable or irrational attachment to negative stereotypes and prejudices.
Culture
Culture is the patterns of daily life learned consciously and unconsciously by a group of people. These patterns can be seen in language, governing practices, arts, customs, holiday celebrations, food, religion, dating rituals and clothing, to name a few.
Discrimination
Discrimination is the denial of justice and fair treatment by both individuals and institutions in many arenas, including employment, education, housing, banking and political rights. Discrimination is an action that can follow prejudicial thinking.
Diversity
Diversity means different or varied. The population of the United States is made up of people from diverse "races," cultures and places.
Multicultural
Multicultural means many or multiple cultures. The United States is multicultural because its population consists of people from many different cultures.
Prejudice
Prejudice is prejudging or making a decision about a person or group of people without sufficient knowledge. Prejudicial thinking is frequently based on stereotypes.
Scapegoating
Scapegoating is blaming an individual or group for something based on that person or group's identity when, in reality, the person or group is not responsible. Prejudicial thinking and discriminatory acts can lead to scapegoating.
Stereotype
A stereotype is an oversimplified generalization about a person or group of people without regard for individual differences. Even seemingly positive stereotypes that link a person or group to a specific positive trait can have negative consequences.

Part II. Manifestations of Prejudice and Discrimination
The following are specific manifestations of prejudice and discrimination, all of which are based on stereotypes and/or negative attitudes toward members of a particular group. All forms of prejudice can be both personal (an individual act of meanness or exclusion) or institutional (prejudice and discrimination supported and sanctioned by power and authority that benefits some and disadvantages others).

Ableism
Ableism is prejudice and/or discrimination against people with mental and/or physical disabilities.
Ageism
Ageism is prejudice and/or discrimination against people because of their age.
Anti-Semitism
Anti-Semitism is prejudice and/or discrimination against Jews. Anti-Semitism can be based on hatred against Jews because of their religious beliefs, their group membership (ethnicity) and sometimes on the erroneous belief that Jews are a "race."
Classism
Classism is prejudice and/or discrimination against people because of their real or perceived economic status.
Heterosexism
Heterosexism is prejudice and/or discrimination against people who are or who are perceived to be lesbian, gay or bisexual. Homophobia is the irrational fear of people who are believed to be lesbian, gay, or bisexual.
Racism
Racism is prejudice and/or discrimination against people based on the social construction of "race." Differences in physical characteristics (e.g. skin color, hair texture, eye shape) are used to support a system of inequities.
Religious bigotry
Religious bigotry is prejudice and/or discrimination against people based on their religious beliefs and/or practices.
Sexism
Sexism is prejudice and/or discrimination based on gender.

Somebody posted here someplace that there was a post about a lesson game for the children.

Children had to define themselves by choosing to wear one of two signs. One sign read "homosexual" the other sign read "homophobe". After being instructed by the teacher that homophobe is a very very very bad thing, what do you expect the under 10 children select? The children declare themselves homosexuals as the teacher suggests.

Do you have a link that may support this WAFF? or is this just rumor? It would be nice to be able to substantiate it.

Psst....
The SpongeBob Culprit....

Dobson claims that the character appears in a "pro-
homosexual" video along with other cartoon characters. The
video in question was created by Nile Rodgers, writer of
the disco song "We Are Family," to promote tolerance
following the attacks of Septebmer 11th. The video
features cartoon characters singing and dancing to teach
children about multiculturalism.

The video promotes a "tolerance pledge", which was created
by the Southern Poverty Law Center. The pledge includes
sexual identity as part of tolerance. The video itself and
accompanying materials make no mention of sexual identity
or sexual orientation.

Homosexual Agenda Ping - More on the SpongeBob "We are Family" homo-indoctrination.

Evidence of "gay" indoctrination left, right and center. Meaning it is obvious, transparent, and without doubt. Dobson is right.

They are, indeed, after OUR children.

Let me and DirtyHarryY2K know if anyone wants on/off this pinglist.

Wildmon responded that AFA would not offer a public apology. "Our facts are well documented and truthful," Wildmon said. "No apology is necessary for telling the truth."

THIS, is what is true. I have seen the website, and the teacher plans which are for discussion after the video. It has been removed from the website, does that tell you anything?

Yes it's true! I hope they do take them to court, so it will be exposed very publicly! The gay agenda is trying to get to the kids, so the parents will go along. And it's child abuse, plain and simple.

Maybe it is up to the parents when they are HOME, but the government needs to stop it from entering our schools. Canada is going through this in the courts now. And the are Because! They made gay marriage legal.

I have not run into it but have not looked through everything yet -if noticed I will ping you...

Could you ping me also if you come across lesson plans?

This topic was mentioned in my children's literature class. The guy who brought it up had NO clue what the story really was about. People were murmuring, "Gee, tolerance is SO bad!" and "Goodness, we can't have diversity, can we?"

Then, I explained the truth. I still think they fail to get it because they believe they know what tolerance means. I'm sure they all think this video is about "Be nice and don't hit people!" So anything specific you have on lessons (with links or citations)would be appreciated.

There are no such thing as gay animals and ducks. It's seems animals are smart enough to know that queers have no place in nature,

I know but you would think to hear the activists talk, animals are gay also. Not true, nor is it true that there are anymore than 2 % of the population in people.

Still, the school board must answer to the state, and the state to the federal education boards. preasure can be brought to bear from those levels of government as well.

There is a problem in the. The NEA and most state teacher associations as well, are one of the biggest pushers of this agenda. Sad, but true!
