Dean slanders GOP rank-and-file GOTV volunteers as "mindless zealots"
Sacramento broadcast media

Approximately 600 Democrats gathered in a Sacramento conference hall on Saturday, January 22, to hear seven DNC chair candidates vie for the affections of a motley crowd composed of several dozen voting DNC members and a large assortment of Deaniacs. When it was the ex-Governor's turn to speak, it was Iowa all over again...
"They're gonna do those things too. The difference is we're not going to send an army of mindless zealots out into the provinces to knock on doors -- you are gonna' do it because you believe in it, and because they're you're friends and neighbors!" -- Howard Dean

the RATs will have to embrace Harry Truman instead of Karl Marx if they ever want to regain the ground they have lost in public opinion over the last 50 yearsIt bears repeating.

the 60s brats have all grown up (physically) This "60s brat" spent a considerable amount of time working to re-elect that "60s brat", GWB.

I'm hardly "so touchy".
Nor do I paint with such a broad brush as to smear you, me, and GWB.

The RATS are afraid the fringe base will break off to the Greens but they are losing more middle voters to the GOP. Just brilliant on their part. Carville is doing a great job ....

The difference is we're not going to send an army of mindless zealots out into the provinces to knock on doors -- Um, isn't that just what THEY did? We were the ones with honest to goodness volunteers, right?

I don't consider myself, GWB, or you a "60s brat," but if you want to identify with the "smear" and thereby find offense at it, you're entitled.

You're all missing the delicious irony.
There is a big difference between the GOP and Donk GOTV drives.
The Republican volunteers were VOLUNTEERS.
Many if not most Donkey Dem "volunteers" were PAID!
This includes paid "activists" by groups like ACORN, etc... many Dem voter registration "volunteers" were actually paid, also... for all the good it did them.

I know I'm a long way away but is there ANYTHING I can do to help get this prize goose elected DNC Chairman? How about painting Dean's mug on the southern end of all your northbound platypusses and having Steve Irwin do a special on it?
To: Alissa
"Is there anything we can do to promote his chairmanship?"
Letters to the Editor, calling radio 'call-in' shows, posting at MoveOn's "ActionForum.com" or at Democratic Underground & other lefty sites & blogs as pro-Deaniacs and explaining to the nice Kool-Aid drinkers why Doctor Dean would be FABULOUS as DNC chairman (use your imagination).
Start an on-line petition in his favor as DNC head, call the DNC and lobby for him, go to the surviving Deaniac websites and throw red meat to the crazies, if you have a Democratic congressman or senator, call and lobby for Dean.
