A culture of life for America got a big boost from President Bush as he addressed, from Camp David by telephone, pro-life demonstrators in DC marking the 32nd anniversary of Roe v. Wade. He told abortion opponents he shared their support for 'a culture of life' and lauded progress in passing legislation to protect the vulnerable.
Presidents Bush and Chirac plan to have dinner in Europe next month. The president is also planning to host Chirac in the United States sometime soon. Bush plans to stop in Germany, and to meet with Russia's Putin in the Slovak Republic during his visit to Europe.
The Bush administration plans to announce it will seek about $80 billion in new funding for military operations this year in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Vice President Dick Cheney and his wife, Lynne, will lead a US delegation to Poland for observances marking the 60th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camps. Cheney will tour Auschwitz, honor Holocaust survivors, speak at the international forum, meet with Poland's President Kwasniewski, Poland's PM Belka, and Ukraine's President Yushchenko.
Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island!
Great organizations!
Are you absolutely SURE Barney isn't in that picture? (Rely 73, picture #2.) The President could be carrying Barney, Miss Beasley and India; who would know!
***"All I ask of You" HAS that intense, rip your heart out kind of quality that hasn't really been done in 50 plus years.
I think that's it.***
"By george, I think you have it!"
That's been bothering me for years. I couldn't really match the song up with any melody, but I felt a strong connection.
It's so nice to know I'm not alone in that feeling.
I can't get enough of this photo I took:
When the horror was unfolding on September 11th, I was so stunned that I sat in front of my television for a week. I was as devastated as if it were my own country. I cried so much for the next while. It would just come over me, no matter where I was. I still cry when I see pics of that horrific day. I am tearing up typing this note.
I was too overwhelmed by what had happend to even wonder if anything was going to happen up here.
I have a good friend who worked at the time in a very large elementary school in a predominantly immigrant neighbourhood. The kids were in school when the planes hit. They all went home for lunch (therefore connecting with their lovely parent/s) and came back in quite the celebratory spirit. They danced and chanted Osama bin Laden's name. She was horrified. They knew immediately who was behind it. That tells you who and what we have living up here...and that is a very small city, never mind what is in Toronto or Montreal, etc.
I was pretty sure that it was just America under attack, and was not the least bit surprised when it was found out that some of the evil perps had come over from Canada. Then as time went by, my disgust of the liberal government for not BOLDLY standing beside our friends and neighbours took over.
This is how my heart immigrated to America.
It just struck me that there was a very real connection that I had never thought of before, so I thank you for posing the question.
It's also good for me to know that someone else shares the same mind AND heart about music.
To be so close to history at this monumental moment..........well it's just AMAZING!
Thanks for posting it again!
(Laura looks so content and so proud at the same time, doesn't she?)
RE: Chirac, kissing Laura's hand, etc. . . . maybe they're having some intensive training with Beezy and will take her along so she can "accidentally" pee on his leg. :-)
I just saw a clip of the Pres. getting off Marine 1; it appears Barney is walking away because the Pres. keeps pointing to the WH and if I could read lips, I think he's saying--"Go on Barney, go see mom, get in where it's warm . . . " The Pres. starts to walk over to where Barney seems to be, then turns around and walks the other way. Apparently someone else was chasing Barney. LOL!
That is an awesome picture; do you have more from that day?
I also remember the first person to call me to ask if I was all right was a friend of mine who lives in Toronto.
I can never forget the kindness of the Canadian people.
BTW, I am part Canadian as my mom is from Saskatchewan. I still have relatives in Western Canada.
