Is the midwinter weather wearing you down? Are you sinking in debt after the holidays? Angry with yourself for already breaking your New Year's resolutions? Wish you could crawl back under the covers and not have to face another day of rain, sleet, snow and paperwork? Probably. After all, it's Jan. 24, the “most depressing day of the year,” according to a U.K. psychologist.

It's depressing for me. It's my first day back to work after being in DC last week on vacation. There is a silver lining, though. I work today and tomorrow, then have 8 days off. I don't know if I can handle it.

I'd be happy if we went right from Christmas one week to Easter the next and skipped Jan, Feb, and March.

February is mine...cold, dreary and getting close to spring. For a 28 day month, it seems like the longest one. Guess thats just impatience on my part.
Nothing to do but tie some flies and wait to get back on the water....

Global warming....I love it! Last week in Dallas we had three days in a row in the 70's with no wind. Just perfect....I fly r/c airplanes so I know how rare that is. Stayed out ALL day. This week, we expect 2 days just like it. But no body move here....ya here. Global warming is a killer in August.

Is the midwinter weather wearing you down?

Yes. I was supposed to get some blood work done this morning at the hospital. It was so cold outside that my door locks were frozen solid. I finally got into the car and the battery was nearly frozen, the engine oil was thick and it wouldn’t start.
Tomorrow should be in the 40’s, so no big deal.

You won't get any argument from me. Every year that I make it through January without going on Prozac is a success story. I hate winter!

For Kerry, January 20th was the most depressing day of the year.

The Brits have truly lost it. They can't stand the notion that anyone could possibly be happy with life, so they create crapola like this.

Oh, I don't know. I tend to agree that some times of the year are less eagerly anticipated than others. For me, late January is the new year's Monday. I think a lot of people hold that view.

I also think the best way to change this general perception would be to launch an new informal holiday and celebrate it every January 24th.
