Fox News: Too Fair, Too Balanced

Fox News Network has become a favorite target of leftists these days, who, in all their impotent rage, like to ascribe various sinister motives to what they see as a staunchly conservative news channel. An entire documentary, Outfoxed, has been devoted to the idea that Fox News is part of a right-wing cabal to control the country. The left is particularly fond of mocking Fox

The best the weekend Fox show has ever been was today when they were out fooling around in the snow..

Yes it was good. The girl from HOuston, who had never seen snow. What a treat to take her first saucer rider in the snow on nat'l tv. LOL

Fox is no longer fair and balanced. It's become an appendage of the Republican Party, hence about worthless as a news source. I'm constantly amazed at what they don't cover. A pity. It had such potential. Most of their original supporters have moved back to the internet for real news.

Americans would benefit greatly from terrorism coverage that provides a coherent picture. But for the most part, Fox provides the kind of unfocused coverage found elsewhere in the MSM.

This is my greatest criticism of FoxNews. They have not tried to provide a comprehensive view of all that America is doing in Iraq, nor have they tried to put into perspective the 2 to 3 incidents that occur daily in a land the size of California.

I'm sure I could find 5-6 murders to focus on in California each day....some pretty nasty stuff. And I could make all the rest of America terrified to visit Calif. if you give me total license to avoid context about Calif. and to publish hours of the negative without balance.

Also, I simply do not like the "dueling issues" pieces where they have one or two from each side batting an issue around the set. They talk over top of one another, and they simply shout talking points that they repeat again, and again, and again.

The format doesn't allow reflection, and the chosen representatives are opposed to reflection, apparently.

The best pieces are always the host with one guest formats.

She's in the mid-afternoon, and I agree. She tries to steer them away from the talking points mentality.

Fox News Radio is definitely FNC. They usually have Lauren Green, Donnan Fiducia, Dari Alexander people like that reading the news. It does kind of suck, but doesn't have the smarmy, insinuating, elitist, left-wing tone that CBS Radio News has.

I did vote for President Bush. But I would have preferred to have voted for a true conservative, rather than a "lite liberal."

I will take issue with you on one point, there is nothing "lite" about his liberalism. I see him as as the first fundamentalist Christian liberal.

FoxNews weekends are becoming too tabloid.

The weekends have always been crappy. Now that they are the top rated, you'd think they'd spend some money and do some news specials.

One of the stories that desperately needs to be told is what is being accomplished in Iraq, and what life under Saddam was really like. They are now big enough that they have a responsibility to inform.

Katrina vanden Heuvel is a frequent guest on "Hardball" on MSNBC. Otherwise good article.
