A day in the life of President Bush (1/23/05) photos

The first family attended church this morning. Afterwards, the President headed to Camp David where he was to meet with his advisors to work on his State of the Union Address.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: At this second gathering, our duties are defined not by the words I use, but by the history we have seen together. For a half century, America defended our own freedom by standing watch on distant borders. After the shipwreck of communism came years of relative quiet, years of repose, years of sabbatical - and then there came a day of fire.

Some, I know, have questioned the global appeal of liberty - though this time in history, four decades defined by the swiftest advance of freedom ever seen, is an odd time for doubt. Americans, of all people, should never be surprised by the power of our ideals. Eventually, the call of freedom comes to every mind and every soul. We do not accept the existence of permanent tyranny because we do not accept the possibility of permanent slavery. Liberty will come to those who love it.

***What is traditional Sunday food where you come from?***

LOL! You didn't ask me, but I'll answer. Since my mother was British, a traditional Sunday dinner was roast beef and Yorkshire pudding. Yummmm... I still make it because I love Yorkshire pudding. In fact, I make extra for breakfast and put a slab of the pudding, butter and HOMEMADE beef gravy in the microwaver and feast in the A.M. (And some people actually think bagels for breakfast is a treat, poor souls.)

Do you think that Laura will convince him that Miss Beazley is light enough for her to carry? Or do you think that he will take this duty over and give Barney back to Laura LOL

I know people that like cold yorkshire with golden syrup yuck as far as I am concerned I like it hot with gravy. Also I like Yorkshire with all meat not just beef.

Gretchen, when the passed the plate, the President had no cash on him. Presidents of the United States never carry cash, credit cards or ID. He looked a little sheepish, and his father reached over and gave him a few bucks to toss into the plate. The Vice President did have some cash, which explains his smile, I think.

Awww, that pic of Barney on his back, getting his tummy rubbed, is my favorite. That was Dubya doing the rubbing, and I was struck by the big strong man being so gentle with the little puppy.

Thanks for today's Dose, Wolfstar.

And a little-known fact about the cat is that it's a she, and India is her real name, but Willie is her nickname. She's beautiful, isn't she?

It is rather (pardon the use of that word) cold today. I am in southern Ontario and we shared the storm with your northeast yesterday.

Gee, roast lamb, roast beef, yorkshire pudding, roast parsnips, gravy...sure makes my fish stew sound rather unappealing. Think I'll phone for some pizza.

What an exception made then to this rule during the election campaign because we saw GWB paying for corn, cakes etc.

LOL! Well, since he can't chase two independent Scotties in two different directions, I think he'll start putting Barney on a leash and will carry Beezie as soon as Laura let's him. This way he gets to take over both dogs.

Looking forward to this dose!! thanks. can't wait for puppy pics.

But now I have to take a very large puppy for a walk and listen to the usual shouts like, "get a saddle and you can ride him."

Yep, the cat is beautiful. I love cats, dogs, horses, you name it. If it's a critter, I love it.

On those campaign swings, somebody plans in advance for the President to have some cash to use for those photo ops. However, under normal day-to-day circumstances, presidents do not have any cash, credit cards or ID on them. I'm not sure why, and it certainly was not always so.

Yes, probably very similar to the Queen in that respect.
