The Declaration of Independence was written eleven years before the U.S. Constitution was introduced at the Constitutional Convention of 1787.
The Declaration of Independence is the only document that speaks of a Creator. It speaks of particular attributes that this Creator must have. This indicates that not all Creators are equal. Not all are welcomed by the U.S. Constitution. It must be a Creator that supports the ideas of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. If there are any out there that fulfill this requirement, let this Creator stand forward.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
