The President, First Lady and their parents relaxed at the White House today. Former President GHW Bush visited the press corps on duty in the WH press briefing room.
QUOTE OF THE DAY: This week, Washington has been marked by pomp and circumstance. In a free nation, these ceremonies are more than pageantry. They underscore that public office is a public trust. America's elected leaders derive their authority from the consent of the American people, whom we serve. This is a high privilege, and that privilege carries a serious responsibility: to confront problems now, instead of passing them on to future generations.
As long as I hold this office, I promise that I will serve all Americans and will work to promote the unity of our great nation. And working together, we will secure the blessings of liberty, not only for ourselves, but for generations of Americans to come.
President George W. Bush, Presidential Radio Address, Jan. 22, 2005.
So is Jeb's daughter in treatment somewhere, or still having problems, or overseas, or does anyone know?
Could you believe they actually had a show on about the protestors? I kept flipping back, hoping they'd cover the balls, but for over an hour they were showing the protestors. And just as I was beginning to appreciate CSPAN.
Does anyone know where the picture is of "W" giving Lady Laura a little smooch on the cheek as they dance?
I have a different gesture that I'd share with certain Europeans. I wonder what they'd think about that one? :^P
Great pix Wolfstar, it's nice to be back enjoying the Dose, although it was exciting to be in DC for the Inauguration.
I watched everything including the parade again..brief showing of Laura and W in ball attire..then turned it off for the protesters..Saw all that junk I ever wanted to see years ago by the radicals and commies.
mr.h has a business associate/friend in Barrington . . . is your sister's name Kaye?
I never get tired of seeing the pomp and circumstance and hearing the music; I hope they show the prayer service again too.
We saw the fireworks when we were on a Metra train. They must have been really big, the train seemed to be a fair distance from the elipse.
No, my sister's name is Linda..
Oh boy .. I hope that car has a shovel ... it's really really bad. They're recommending everyone stay off the roads .. visibility is about nil. Prayer sent for his safe return, and tell him to take an extra day, if he can. This my first time in 35 years living in winter .. and I sure never saw such a whiteout in New England growing up.
George P. alert!! Where's my fan?
No, no shovel..he's driving my PT and it sets real low to the ground....and guess what!..his 4-wheel drive Jeep is in ur driveway.....
That pic is on Thursday and Friday's dose I believe....wait awhile and someone here will post it for you....I don't know how..
Oh jeez ... hopefully, he'll stay til the whiteout and dangerous driving conditions clear up .. not worth it. They've got parts of Lakeshore shut down .. no visibility.
I wonder if DrDeb got out of DC before the storm hit...her area of Ohio is really getting slammed.
He's due home tomorrow, but he can wait til Mon if need be..he isn't due back to work til Tuesday.
If she didn't get out yesterday, I sort of doubt it. Not because DC was getting it early this morning, but because OH probably was already socked in. That was the reason we didn't try to get out early this morning, we knew we'd never get into O'Hare.
g'day Wolfstar! Thank you for the pictures today; what an excellent selection - plenty of keepers. Especially your choice as the picture of the day!
The Beltway boys just gave Laura Bush an "up" arrow and said she was 'hot'! Mort said teh Pres. really should learn to dance--"Real men CAN dance!" LOLOL!
I think Lynn Cheney's granddaughters spent part of their time with Laura.
