UC Santa Cruz Chancellor's Partner gets cushy job

The University of California has quietly created a new $192,000 management position for the longtime partner of the incoming chancellor at the University of California at Santa Cruz.

According to UC President Robert Dynes, Kalonji's hiring was part of the recruitment package offered to her partner of seven years, Denice Dee Denton, ... as the new chancellor of UC-Santa Cruz. Denton will start in February and will receive a salary of $275,000 and a moving allowance of $68,750.

Gretchen Kalonji .. will also receive a tenured professorial appointment at one of the UC campuses -- possibly UC-Santa Cruz.

In addition to Kalonji's $192,000 annual salary, the UC will provide her with the usual faculty housing assistance allowance of up to $50,000 .. and pay her moving expenses. It is a substantial increase from her $134,424 salary at the University of Washington

It is not unusual for a university to find a position for the spouse or partner of faculty and key management hires as part of a recruitment deal

What do you expect from a University where Angela Davis, Communist and accomplice in a murder, is " University of California Presidential Chair in African American and Feminist Studies." http://humwww.ucsc.edu:16080/HistCon/faculty_davis.htm

Yes, the university system in California, as in many states, has degenerated to very low levels of respect when it comes to the LIBERAL-COMMUNIST management you find at many campuses. I had the sadly dubious honor of attending a graduation exercise at the Santa Cruz campus about a year ago -- and the Dean, a frothing lesbian communist (only in California) gave a commencement speech that sounded more like Hitler in the 40's, than anything you might expect in the way of a motivational and congratulatory speech for graduate kids.

It was totally disgusting, and I was saddened for the partents that actually had paid money to have this youngster educated (indoctrinated) there -- their kid was one that could not easily separate the BS from reality and is now a raving, feminist, leftist. A sad waste of a good mind. My youngsters had my support and guidance, and they survived the university system's communists. I am grateful for that.

If I'm reading the article correctly, it seems her "partner's" main achievement was using a $300,000 grant to recruit students from mainland China.

Is diversity great or what?

Frankly, no one is suggesting that she not be allowed to express her political views. No one is suggesting that there should be a law against homosexuality. What we are, if I may speak for the majority of Freepers, appalled by is the fact that our hard earned tax dollars are being spent on individuals/ideologies in these universities that we do not support, and in fact, goes against what we hold to be true and virtuous.

Good morning.

I wonder how much the system could reduce tuition by if they would can the new chancellor and her girlfriend. I wonder how many poor American born students could get financial aid or how many real teaching professors could be hired.

Holy Schmoly!

Now I see why they gave her such a sweet deal. They're going to have her play linebacker for the football team too!

Near here, in Bayfield (Gayfield) CO, some enterprising wimmin started a very successful construction business. All the homes they built were completely tounge'n'groove and not a stud was used.

Any parent who'd send their child to UC Santa Cruz deserves exactly what he/she gets. Ignorance and stupidity are their own rewards....

How does that not involve nepotism, and how long has nepotism been acceptable in the expenditure of public funds at eductional institution?

What are the pervert's qualifications? Have her documents been verified?

'It makes me sick,'' said Mary Higgins, an administrative assistant at UCSF and statewide president of UC's clerical union, which did not get a raise this year. ''It is a violation of the public trust and it is just more of the same. It is just like it is a total corrupt corporate enterprise.''

Don't you just love it when libs go after each other....
