New Zealanders are feeling sheepish over a new postage stamp that shows an ewe with powerful, curled horns -- horns that in real life are found only on a ram. Merino ewes, the type depicted on the stamp, have tiny stumps of horn if any at all, opposition National Party lawmaker Katherine Rich pointed out Tuesday.
"The stamp is an absolute impossibility," she grumped.
The subject is not being taken lightly in New Zealand, famous for its beautiful meadows full of gamboling lambs and the fact that its 40 million sheep vastly outnumber its human population of 4 million.
The stamp shows the female sheep with two lambs.
"Given the sheep is a major icon of this country, you'd think they would have at least passed the stamp design by someone with knowledge of agriculture," Rich said.
The stamp's designer, artist Samuel Sakaria, admitted taking artistic license. "The males have the curly horns," he said. "I thought just to add a bit of a dynamic I'd just add in the male equivalent as opposed to the female."
We now have a symbol for Dem Sheep. LOL.
Won't be the first time someone has taken advantage of an ewe...
You would think Kiwis would know their sheep.
farmer with big boots to sheep
"whats your name dear"
Sheep back to farmer with big boots
"Baaaaaarbara"
Oopsy! Gender confused Ewe!
Hey, at least they're PC, right? LOL.
Excuse ewe?
The left never lets reality stand in their way.
I called you baaaack for some ssshear delight, so come join the flock...
And there's a message that I'm sending out
Like a telegraph to your soul
And if I can't bridge this distance
Stop this heartbreak overload
I ain't missing ewe at all
Since you've been gone
Away
I ain't missing ewe
No matter
What my friends say
I ain't missing ewe
I ain't missing ewe
I keep lying to myself
And there's a storm that's raging
Through my frozen heart tonight
I ain't missing ewe at all
Since you've been gone
Away
I ain't missing ewe
No matter
What my friends say
Hee-hee.
I mean, baaa-baaa.
On the horns of a dilemma. . . .
Well, at least he made the horns look feminine!
To be honest, that sheep looks gay. Maybe that's what the problem actually is. After all, you can't quite tell in the picture what gender that sheep REALLY is.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Ma!!
My first reaction?
Awwww...bless. New Zealand fathers play a part in population upbringing! ;-)
BUMP to EWE!!!!
Nice!
Do I need to say anything.
Goodnight, and double check the TP!!
I'll never find another ewe, said Tom sheepishly, as he took it on the lamb.
The sheep doesn't have big brown clumps on its' butt either.
