I want to thank all of you.
You may or may not know me. That's Okay.
My oldest brother John passed away last night, at approximately 10 PM. He was one month shy of his 60th birthday. He was diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer six months ago. His heart finally gave out due to oxygen deprivation.
He was an Army Vet, and served, as my memory recalls, on the Berlin Wall. I still have pictures of me dressed in a tiny military uniform, purchased from the PX, at Fort Dix.
This post is not about me...or even my brother.
It is about the extended family that has been created, and continually re created by people, such as yourselves, who allow not only the required facts of a story, but also allow the occasional personal tragedy into the mix.
This place is truly great. We have proved it time and time again.
JimRob...thank you for your kind words in response to my e mail. For the rest of you....even though I will not post as much...I am still honored to lurk.
I want to thank each and every one of you, from my heart for listening to the grief within me.
All My Love And Respect.....FP

As long as you remember your memories of the good times with your brother, he'll always be with you.
Sorry for your loss. Don't be a stranger, you're part of what makes FR what it is!
I am sorry for the loss of your brother, FRiend.
Post the pics, I bet they are great!
*sniff* Bumping this thread...
I am so sorry, Know This,We Love You and we will always be here for you.
Don't stay away completely, or too long.
We still need you.
It's each of us that make FR what it is...and, that includes you even in your time of grief.
My condolences to you, sir; I have no doubt your brother was a most impressive man--he might have had too much modesty, thinking of himself as just an ordinary guy, but one recalls the words of Isaiah: ".....every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill laid low; the crooked straight and the rough places plain....."
I always think of this when "ordinary people"--such as those who saw themselves as "just plain soldiers"--pass away; in the Eyes of God, they are undoubtedly greater than princes and potentates, and rewarded accordingly.
My sincerest condolences on the loss of your brother. Just remember, it's people like you who make Free Republic great!
I'm sorry to hear about your brother. My condolences.
Hang in there.
I pray that good memories will bring comfort in this time of loss.
There just aren't words at this point, but know that you're going to have a lot of people you've never laid eyes on before sending prayers and wishes of comfort to you, myself included. Be well and God bless.
Thank you my friend.
It's a little less than 24 hours....it's just starting to hit me.
Condolences on your loss.
Thank you for the beautiful graphics....I wish you hadn't....I totally lost it.
Prayers for your brother.
