Wow! For snow to cripple Chicago, it's gotta be bad.

I'm so jealous.

I have extra shovels and gloves. What time can I expect ya?

So happy you're home nutmeg. It was 10 below this morning and they're forecasting 12 to 18 inches here (on top of what's on the ground) with L.I. getting perhaps 2 feet. With wind exceeding 45 miles per hour I pray we don't lose power which seemingly goes out when two or three neighbors sneeze simultaneously. Stay safe.

I'd gladly help if I could. Shoveling snow isn't that bad, is it? First big storm of the year in late January? The only way it could be better is if this was Sunday night and you were looking at a day off tomorrow. :)

I'm sorry to hear that.

Thanks. The contractors I've been dealing with say there is much worse damage in some areas. A couple retaining walls and some fill dirt and we'll be better than new. Here is a pic of the damage...

Wow! That looks horrible! I'll have to take your word that it can be easily repaired. As long as your foundation is still on steady ground, I suppose it's not a huge deal...

SIGNIFICANT PRECIPITATION DURING A 12 HOUR PERIOD IS LIKELY. BULK OF THE QPF WILL BE OVER THE EASTERN LOS ANGELES COUNTY MOUNTAINS WITH SNOW LEVEL BETWEEN 6-6.5KFT AND HAVE ISSUED WINTER WEATHER OUTLOOK FOR WEDNESDAY. WILL ALSO ISSUE AN HYDROLOGICAL OUTLOOK AS SMALL STREAMS AND CREEKS THAT WERE FLOODED WITH DEBRIS FROM THE PREVIOUS EVENT WILL PREVENT NORMAL FLOW AND LOCAL FLOODING MAY EXIST.

I've been watching the updates for a few days. First it said rain possible, then 30% chance, then 60% chance, now it just says RAIN. HIGHS IN THE 50'S.

The clouds are building rather heavily today. I sure hope we don't have a repeat of the past few weeks.

Hi Duke, I care because I grew up in the Midwest and remember well those weather forecasters. They led the news. The weather was the center of attention. Wisconsin always seemed to get the worst winter weather.

"Stay inside if you don't have to go anywhere, stay warm and keep listening to W---, where we'll give you late breaking storm coverage until you scream at us to stop."
