Many of the Creative Coalition famous party-goers acknowledged that they didn't vote for Bush on Nov. 2. But, they said, they're not sitting around licking their wounds.
"Like it or not, [Bush] is the president of the United States and you can [complain for] the next four years or you can sit back" and be active, said actor Matthew Modine, who's been featured in movies such as "Full Metal Jacket," said.
Entertainers who passed through the media line reiterated that their involvement in the coalition isn't because of political ambitions but because of a strong desire to work on issues.
"I think it's more of a neo-conservative thing to be angry and bitter ... ," Hill Harper, known for his role as Dr. Sheldon Hawkes on CBS' "CSI: NY," said.

Huh..???
The Hollywood elite are living in a dream world.
As I told the Libs going through the gate at the parade. We protested Clinton at the White House and stayed away from the parade. All you Libs are just skunks at the parade and sore losers.
At least they are TRYING to get someting done for the good of the country. I think this is a step in the right direction.
For anyone who'd like more steel-shank exposure of liberal hypocrisy, use FR's search feature. Enter "Coulter".
We hate you but we want you to continue buying what we make.
I could have sworn that when the Fox camera panned the crowd yesterday, at the inauguration, I saw Alec Baldwin. Did anyone else?
"We work from the center of the aisle and it's really important to what we do," actor, director and Creative Coalition co-director Tony Goldwyn told party guests before singer Macy Gray took the stage to perform songs of her own as well as The Beatles' "Come Together."
"This is a great platform for us to celebrate the arts and talk about things like funding for the arts, First Amendment rights; things we really care about [with] Republicans, as well as Democrats," Goldwyn said earlier in the night.
HAHAHAHAHA!!!
I think it was Stephen, the born-again Baldwin.
More brilliance from Hollywood. Although this is closer to Shut Up and Sing than anything they have yet to pontificate. Hollywood really needs some talented life script writers.
The words of fools are many...
I am almost positive that it was Alec, it wasn't Stephen.
So they claim.
I think it far more likely the "issues" they want to push, besides the cosmetic PC publicity crap, are things like blocking access to the beach through their Malibu property, or making music swapping a capital offense so that they can afford that next gold plated Porsche. Or Woody Harrelson's favorite, legalizing drugs (for his own personal use).
The truly committed in Hollywierd are few and far between.
Although I think he's one of the WIERDEST of the lot, Ed Begley Jr. has always been real about what he stands for and has lived as he has preached. He's a big advocate for public transit and non-polluting transportation and I know he rides the bus and bicycles as his primary means of transportation. Of course that's because his electric car didn't really live up to the hype.
Oh, this is rich. They get a 14 year old actor that is parroting the stupid adults that he lives around, and quote him like he is an expert on stem-cells.
As Carl the greenskeeper said,"I have to laugh...."
I think if it were Alec, he would have been gang beaten. It would be kind of like Custard's last stand. Stephen is a big Bush supporter.
yeah... right... why don't they take a cut in pay and funnel profits to the crew on the films..?? What a bunch of hypocrites.. then they want TAX BREAKS!!!! Why ?don't they believe in higher taxes...??? I mean it's all for the "little children".
What they should do in congress is tell the hypocritical Hollywoods that they will have a 10% ADDITIONAL tax surcharge on any salary, dividend that is made in the entertainment industry and funnel it back to fund the National Endowment for the Arts, PBS and tax "breaks" to keep the "jobs in America"..
then we'd hear them squeal like the f@cking hypocritical, lying sacks of sh#t they are.
I didn't see. Was on FR's live thread (>4000 replies!), in-between glancing at the tube.
Yeah, I had to laugh at that as well. I'm angry and bitter. OTOH Al Gore, Ted "Make Mine a Double" Kennedy, and all the folks that make up ANSWER are happy, kind, peaceful, and well-adjusted. It's also interesting that Hill Harper contrasted being "angry and bitter" with being inclusive. LOL.
When the average spokesperson for this group are the likes of Michael Moore, Sean Penn, Barbara Streisand, and Whoopi Goldberg, small wonder why Americans have a condescending view of them.
