DC was built on swampland originally. In the summer it isn't exactly pleasant weather either. Very humid I understand.

Yes... before 1937, Presidents were sworn in on March 4th. The 20th Amendment, ratified in 1933, moved it up to January 20th because the extra two months after the November election gave a President who lost an undeserved grace period in office.

I really love VP Cheney. Don Imus is trying to be his usual smart arsed self and Dick is taking him to school.

I've been to Alexandria/DC and the summer weather is humid. Not my kind of heat. I do better when the heat's bone-dry.

You need DirecTV! It's cheaper than most cable service and owned by News Corp, so you will always have Fox News!

ED called Pelosi on it though. She repeated what Boxer said and commented again that Boxer called her a liar.
I got the feeling that the dems know they stepped in it because she danced over Boxer and changed the topic.

Me too. I've already let the boys out, (Theodore almost 9, toy poodle & Henry almost 2, Malti-Poo), and they are back in bed.
Already had a small pot of coffee, sitting here watching E.D. on Fox and Friends. She is having to deal with Pelosie. yuck!
Praise the Lord this day for our President! George Walker Bush!!!

They will be having the swearing-in ceremony prior to the Inaugural Address. Possibly you could at least listen to the ceremony on your way home on the car radio.

Inauguration Day should be the third Saturday in January in the same manner that Election Day is always the first Tuesday in November.
Having it on a workday stinks because most people will end up missing it. If I remember correctly, Bush was sworn in on a Saturday last time and that worked out really good for me as I was able to watch the whole thing.

God bless President and Mrs. Bush. Today is a grand day. I will be at my job, listening to the ceremonies on the radio. I even got myself a fresh, clean haircut just for the occasion!

"Why can't we hold elections in June and inaugurations in September?"
Actually we'd do better to hold elections around April 16, with inauguration mid-June. Voters should vote right AFTER they have filed their income taxes. Also April-June is spectacular in DC.

Did you see that a liberal judge has permitted explicit Inaugural plans and security measures to be released to a terrorist group and a Saddam Hussein support group that plans to protest in D.C. today?
My head is going to explode.

Yeppers, and when I-man started on the WMD reason for going into Iraq, the VP calmly has gone back and explained everything that lead to Iraq like a father explaining a complicated task to a less than bright child.
