They may well have been speaking English among themselves, because that was the only language the Chinese and the Iraqis would probably have in common. And they may have assumed that the coyote, who is probably not a fine upstanding citizen working on his doctorate, spoke only Spanish and understood no more than a few fragmentary words of English.
This is a mistake people often make. It sounds as if the smuggler did understand them and is trying to do the right thing. However, I'd be surprised if they were headed for Boston, unless they think it's a heck of a lot more important than it is. Talk about wasting a perfectly good dirty bomb!
Just one minute here!!!!
Lots of good Freepers here in Boston fighting the good fight!
that was my thought.
It's the "four chinese" that I don't get. One would not expect terrorist synmpathies from a Chinaman. OTOH, China is a big place with lots of minorities, but the ethnic Han (the people westerners usually picture when they hear the word "chinese") are not muslims, they're Buddhists if anything. Maybe the Chinese were just your run of the mill illegals who happened to cross with two iraqi terrorists. Still, it doesn't sound right to me some how.
Maybe they intentionally alarmed the coyote, to draw attention from where they were actually going. If we have pictures then at least maybe we will know who came across.
