There is a possible up side.
If they do no know where these guys are and they want to slow them down, make them more paranoid, then make it public. It is possible that they have more information about there descriptions then is being released.

Real simple. If this thing blows and we did not give a heads up there will be impeachment proceedings within hours of the blast.

If (and I must emphasize the "if") there were, in fact, several teams like this, of PLA Spec Ops, staging themselves for some sort of overture of assymetrical warfare (bio, chem, nuclear demolition devices, directed EMP, etc) then, in order to get many eyes looking for them, this is precisely what I would do. Pure speculation of course, caveat emptor, any resemblance with people or events, real or imagined, etc ...
