This can't be true. Didn't bin Laden say only the red states will be attacked. There isn't a bluer state than Massachusetts.

Actually - it's not necessarily the Chinese government - there are many Chinese Muslims near the border of Pakistan/Afghanistan. Iirc, other threat reporting has implied that al Qaeda was looking to use non-Arab (looking) Muslims.

`It's very weird. Even if (the Iraqis and Chinese) were going to do something why would they be blabbing to the yahoo smuggling them across the border? You have to wonder if they screwd him on a deal but you have to treat it seriously and the issue is how do you put it out to the public and not get everybody (in a panic)?' Our southern border is wide open to any thug with a grudge against the USA and we should not panic? Our political leadership is living pre-911 with respect the south border.

I have a favorite phrase I use after "pseudo-insulting" someone: "Don't worry, If I REALLY meant it, I wouldn't have said it."
The same goes here. If there really IS a threat, they wouldn't say squat, unless it was just before saying "everybody get the heck out of boston NOW!"
This smells.

Plus, the people who constantly suggest we close down the US southern border with Mexico due to fears terrorists might somehow make it across with job seekers, is just a red herring. Those who want to close those borders are just mean spirited racists whose real concern is that they don't like Mexicans. But if we follow their advice, we'd jeopardize our vote in the Hispanic community./sarc

Most everything no matter how ridiculous will be told. Prospecitive CYA, a lesson of 9/11 for bureaucrats.I think you've nailed it.
Since professional Dim victims such as Kristin Breitweiser and Monica Gabrielle (in cahoots with Chrissy Matthews and the rest of the media mob) were able to make such hay of the vague 'warning' of the August 6 pdb...you can bet the FBI has to go into CYA mode, possible public panic be damned.

"Hell, a couple of months from now the Mexcan guy won't even have to throw them over the fence they can moonwalk across the border if they like. " Is that your idea of an intelligent comment?

"or Chinese-looking militants from the Philippines..." Because the Philippines were a colony of Spain prior to U.S. liberation, Spanish is still spoken among many of the Asian natives of that land...useful for trips to Mexico, no doubt.

That must really be Hell when they have to scream 'ARRAH AWKBAR!' just before they hit the detonator.

I have to laugh at this in a black humor sort of way. Boston, which spent 4 years excoriating Bush and lavishing praise on Kerry and other Liberals must find this a bit ironic.

RE: "they're only here to do work that Americans won't do"
Good point. But this is serious. Regardless of their intent will they work cheap? Will they work hard and not ask for time off to do their dirty work? If their mission is a suicidal mission will they supply their employers with replacements? These are the economic issues that matter.
No apologies for my sarcasm.
Anyone, including White House types, who believes another "law" can prevent ILLEGAL entry is NUTS!
We got laws! We've had laws for decades! VIRTUALLY NOBODY IN WASHINGTON, P.C. CARES!
Why do we need a shiny new law that can be ignored by business and government anytime they please?! The old law is still in cherry condition!

Sounds fishy. Kind of feel for the law enforcement guys. Keep it quiet, and you run the risk of it being a real threat. Send out a press release, and you look like a fool.
