A group of blacks sued the Waffle House chain Tuesday, claiming they were discriminated against at restaurants in three Georgia cities. The Georgia lawsuit joins three others recently filed in North Carolina, Alabama and Virginia against the Norcross, Ga.-based company and its franchisees, who are accused of maintaining a pattern of discrimination and violating federal civil rights laws (search). The Plaintiffs in the cases allege that Servers used racial epithets, refused to wait on minority patrons, provided them with slow service and poor quality food while providing whites with prompt service and quality food. Wafflehouse spokesman Pat Warner has pointed out two previous lawsuits in South Carolina and North Carolina where both Juries found in favor of Wafflehouse to demonstrate that "Waffle House Inc. has no tolerance for discrimination in our restaurants, and we react swiftly and decisively if we find a violation of our anti-discrimination policies," .

On one hand you are discriminating. On the other hand you are not.
My mother has more of a case for racial discrimination at McDonald's than these people at Wafflehouse.
"Utter silliness: the manager of that Waffle House is BLACK. He's going to discriminate against black customers? What's up with that?"
I worked for several black managers back in my waitress days. Some black customers really treated those managers like dirt-I didn't get it, but saw it happen all the time.
Hmmm! We went to the Waffle House late one night with our wee ones. When we got there hardly anyone was there. Within moments it was crowded with some very loud people, including other children. We waited and waited. Never got served, so left. As we left, I noticed the other people who got there later already had their dinners in front of them. Should we go back and sue for discrimination, because....because...our children weren't loud enough? That's the only thing that was different between us and the other customers.
Ran over to IHOP for the white folks' food?
I frequented Sambo's in the early 70s. Even worked at one store as the weekend graveyard cook for a couple months in 1974. Learned to drop 6 cakes on a griddle in about 3 seconds and to turn them at the perfect moment - a skill I use these days when one of my social groups has a pancake breakfast. My manager was black and many of my customers were black. I served them all very well.
i suspect the complaint is , in one word, a FRAUD!
free dixie,sw
And suppose this suit isnt gratuitous.
Get a life.
I mentioned it to point out he was eating the same as I and being treated as well as I or better since someone should have told him to take his phone call outside, where his rude manner wouldnt offend, Not that he cared about offending.
I worked at my home town's Sambo's. Started out washing dishes there when I was in High School. I wish I still had that polo shirt with the Sambo's logo....
that was verrrrrrrrrrrrrry funny - good riposte.
Is that Sue's brother?
a lotta this wears thin.
if there is real discrimination, then it should be dealt with.
but in long beach 15 years ago, black kids were coming in late at night and leaving without out paying the bill.
the management wouldn't seat these kids, and they sued.
Heck, I'm about as white as a bed sheet (and no I don't wear any bed sheets any time any where) and I get bad service there. The foods ok though. I just don't understand, do the servers write "for the black folks" on the tickets to ensure their service and food will be bad. I mean, wouldn't you notice that when you pay the check?
Does 'Just For Men' come in blondish-brown? If so, then count me in.
I visited a FUBU store recently. Whew, did this cracker feel unwelcome.
Maurices Columbia SC.
Waffle House has service and quality food?
The closest the Servers ever get to "racial epithets" is shouting "WHITE TOAST!" at the short order cook. ("White" as opposed to "wheat", that is.) They shout the orders to the cook.
