I saw the show and the common links I saw were between todays liberals and Robespierre. Robespierre controlled the press and tried to destroy the church. Sound familiar. He tried to replace the church with the "Supreme Being of Reason", which was himself. What a difference between America and France. How many innocent people were killed between Robespierre and Marat?

I couldn't make myself watch anything french. I expected it would be how they 'saved our asses' against the English.

I'm reading a war novel which takes place in 2012 and concerns the rebirth of Apartheid in Africa and attacks on American and shipping by the Africans and their new best friends the Germans who became sick of being a second class world power.

Anyway my point is I'm only on page three after the war started and already France has surrendered. I'm not kidding. I started laughing so hard my wife thought I lost my mind. When I explained it to her she didn't get it. Great woman but as far as politics goes she still likes Ike.

It isn't a trait found only in the French.

I found the program fascinating in that it provided yet another example of how brute force and genocide are necessary tools in cleansing a country.

Also, showing another example of just how tenuous and fragile the line is between sanity and insanity in humans.

The French Revolution and the Age of Napoleon are the most interesting periods of history to me. I did not see the program, because Monday is the one night my wife has to watch the See-BS lineup of shit-coms.

I will catch a repeat. The French Revolution is more complex than some might think.
