TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- A rebounding economy bolstered by a post-hurricane jump in tax collections will allow Governor Jeb Bush to recommend a state spending plan today that'll put more money into some programs and still allow for tax relief. Florida had its best tourism year in 2004 since before the 9-11 attacks. That's driven taxable sales to visitors up over eleven percent and hotel and motel occupancy up ten percent. Orlando's major theme parks had estimated attendance gains of seven percent to 14 percent in 2004. Bush and the Legislature will have more than four (b) billion dollars extra to spend over the next couple years. That's thanks to an economy boosted by an expected jump in sales tax collections spurred by the rebuilding effort following the hurricanes that hit in August and September. Bush will propose cutting taxes. He also wants to expand reading initiatives.
LOWER TAXES= Happier population and MADDER DIMS.
Works for me.

Jeb is da man! Best governor in the country!
Yes, but I am sure that DOOOOOOM! is right around the corner since Jeb's been running that MASSIVE DEFICIT up until now. Don't you know that all of the States are headed for bankruptcy since George W. Bush would not give money to the States during the "Bush Recession"? Instead, he gave a huge tax cut to the rich, who don't need it. So now we're all unemployed, and it's his fault.
2 words Tax Hike!
I blame Bush for this! Pick one. /sarcasm ;)
Glad there are tax cuts, but why increase state spending as well?

Taxes should be cut, and so should spending, but this very fundamental concept has not yet influenced politicians, who are more concerned about votes, that the public as a whole.
Once their priorities get back to "a government for a by the people"...instead of a government for a by politicians, we will see dramatic positive changes to the present status quo. Let's keep hoping.
ALL of these pols just DON"T get it. We have a spending problem everywhere.
The govt continues to grow bigger. Politicians are short-sighted. They grow the size of the govt, not recognizing that in bad times they wouldn't be able to cut them. Apparently that is a problem for both Republicans and Democrats, unless it is a symptom that runs in the Bush family.
