perform what Bush calls "jobs that Americans won't do."

Bush demonstrates a lack of understanding of fundamental economics. Or he is being disingenous.

People can take their pick or make up something else to explain the goofy statement.

. It's not something I'm going to run to you, to government or this message board to decide. It's up to them.

They won't have any choice when all of our jobs become $6 an hour jobs.

If the workers were legal, they could address the illegal conditions such as the unsanitary conditions and the company would be subject to OSHA standards.

One thing you certainly share with many others on this thread is a contempt for business and a love for government. Are you sure you're in the right place?

I can feel compassionate toward the woman, doing her best for her family, without accepting the premise that she should be allowed to stay here illegally.

We need to pressure the Mexican government to stop using the US as a safety valve for their problems.

No "guest workers", no pseudo-amnesty and no whatever those special visas are that allow replacement of American computer engineers and suchlike with lower paid non-citizens.

How many links would you like to articles detailing the criminal exploits of illegals?

The fact that illegals sometimes commit crimes does not lead to the conclusion that most illegals immigrants commit crimes. Most are just here looking for a job.

She is dizzy, almost wobbly. Her head aches, her coughing won't stop, and because she doesn't have enough money she has not filled her four prescriptions nor seen a doctor recently but yet she still will get up and start selling crack.

No new organization in the world would ever portray a drug dealer as such, yet they do it all the time with criminal aliens.

Exactly. In Mexico 1% of the people own 99% of the wealth.
Mexico is more corrupt than the UN. Let Mexico take care of its own problems.

do you always go to the most expensive place in town or do you shop around a little bit?

Hiring illegals is more like buying stolen goods. Part of the savings comes from shifting costs to someone else. In this case, the taxpayers.

One issue, they are here illegally, and to hire them, suppressing wages for Us citizens is a crime. I support law and order and as for you I would not want someone such as you watching my back either. Someone who openly encourages the violation of federal law for finacial gain.

Interesting, a front for labor unions suggesting we let the freemarket determine wages.

And why not ? Historically, labor unions had an agenda of high wages for non-college educated Americans. It created the blue collar middle class of the 50's and 60's. What's wrong with that ? This entire problem of illegal immigration is something that would never have happenned in the heyday of the labor movement and didn't either because Reuther, Hoffa, and Meany had the power to smash cheap labor, OBL types like bugs.

The agenda of the OBL is to reduce American blue collar wages to Third World levels.

Maybe she meant collective bargaining. That is a market place in its own right.

Well, first off, because most people that live in America really don't share the obession and real vile feelings with some here regarding these folks. Most of us just want to love our neighbor, go to work everyday and be left alone.

I beg to differ. Poll after Poll indicates that most of us want illegal immigration to be stopped.

Loving your neighbor is fine and well. Allowing him to come in and destroy your way of life unopposed is something else entirely.

I don't begrudge these 'folks' a better life but I do say they should work to better their own homelands for themselves and future generations and not sneak in here and reduce US citizenship to a meaningless ideal.

I can feel compassionate toward the woman, doing her best for her family, without accepting the premise that she should be allowed to stay here illegally.<<

The compassion individual Americans like myself have felt towards people like her is being used an an excuse to allow illegals entry and amnesty.

My, My, dont I feel bad for this poor, sick, woman, that frail old man, that hungry child. This compassion is ruining this country.

No Amnesty for Illegals. No free medical for illegals, no free food for illegals, no education for illegals.

Legal Immigrants, Welcome, but NOT if you are here just to get on the Welfare Role. If immigrants cant support themselves and contribute to this Nation, they need to stay out.

It's even worse.

Four prescriptions she can't afford to fill.

When she or others fill the prescription once but don't renew, we get drug-resistant TB.

Also: she probably went to the ER to get treated...that's the usual source of a prescription someone can't afford to fill. Guess who paid for that visit? The benevolent meat packers??

I posted something like this on yesterday's thread but the whole thread got pulled for some reason.

And what I said was that based on what I've read the criminal element is the more common face.

Not only because ANY article that deals with illegal involves a criminal element (they are here illegally) but because I don't see all sorts of heart warming stories about their vast contributions to our way of life.

In fact the bulk of what I see and read involves them committing crimes. And I'm not talking about just those that originate from south of the border. There is plenty of crime committed by the Chinese/Asian and Russian/Eastern European illegals as well.

I know what you mean. I lost my job as a nuclear physicist, because of all the damn minimum wage nuclear physicists teeming across our border.

If the presidents plan is put into action the illegals will demand higher wages because the threat of being deported is gone. Either two things will happen. The 6.90/hour wage will go up to 12.90/hour or more illegals will come in and do the job for 6.90/hour. Ironically 12.90 per hour is what the job used to pay and American citizen. I am also sure that the self appointed quot;advocates" will demand higher wages and benefits for the illegals if the guest worker program comes through. Nothing will be gained from the program

Just curious. What kind of construction jobs? Carpenters - rough or cabinet, bricklayers, electricians? Union or non-union? Journeymen or apprentice? Experience or none?

Of course the bulk of what you read is crime-related. How many papers are stories about Manuel's job flipping burgers going to sell? Can't you see that that doesn't mean that the majority of them are comitting crimes?
