Transparant attempt by liberals to gain two more Democratic Senators.
The gravy train from the Upstate Tax Slaves would end and they would be belly-up within a year. Never happen.

But it's possible that upstate NY would be red.
Except for Ithaca, upstate New York is quite Republican. Making NYC a state would add two Republican senators.
Not necessarily. While the NYC ones would be democrat, the remainder of the state might switch w/o the NYC vote.
Chicago should do the same. With 30% of the vote in Illinois, whoever wins Chicago, wins Illinois.
Not really. It would probably add two Republican senators. Without the massive Democrat vote from NYC, the state of New York would be a Red state.
NY already has two Liberal senators, I think it would be a golden opportunity to elect two republican senators from upstate. I wish Illinois would do the same thing to we downstaters could get the boil off of our but called Chicago. Without Chicago a liberal senator wouldn't have a chance of getting elected in IL.
True, but I would support it, if they would allow us to split California into two states; The Coast all the way down to the San Diego County line being one state, and Central California and San Diego another state.
They get two new Senators, but the Republicans would pick up two new Senators as well.
They might lose the two sens who represent NY now, though...
Bingo!

Not to mention quite a few more congresscritters.
No, let the city stay in the state. Conservatives Republicans have to do a better job promoting a conservative agenda - economically and morally - than they have been that's all.

Whose votes would be cancelled by the two Republican Senators from Upstate, thus putting the Dems out by even more.
2 Senators, at least one representative, and the ability to spend all of their massive tax base purely on NYC (although there would be more people working in NYC-State than living there).
If we are going to start adding states again, then let's get them all divided up properly. Texas splits to 5 states (as was left on the table when it joined the US), maybe some of those territories will join in, Washington D.C. could give it a go (although it makes as much sense to me as "living" at City Hall in any city).
More likely would result in two more GOP senators. Upstate NY is currently unrepresented in the Senate.
